Nice big box. Deeper than any other hooded box I have had. I use regular litter. To help prevent the cats from inhaling all the dust when they kick I always remove the flaps. This box has a nice design in that the flap can be removed and the tiger stripe flap on top can still be left in place. This allows for easy access for intermittent scooping. Even without the flap the cats kick out much less litter compared to other boxes I have had. Much less. Two negatives: the cats easily scratch the plastic of the box and multiple nail grooves are already easily visible. I am sure the grooves are breeding areas for bacteria. I have noticed that all the boxes i have purchased in the last few years have this flaw. The second negative is that the four latches holding the hood in place are a nuisance to use. They stick constantly even after a month of use. They stick in both the latched and unlatched positions so there is no winning. Its a struggle to remove the lid because the latches stick. Then its a struggle to get the lid back in place because the latches won't lock in place. I do plan to buy another of these boxes. I hope they change of a stronger plastic and improve the latch design before i do,

Okay, I LOVE this litter box!!! I'm so happy with the size, the design, the easy access to scoop litter (by flipping the door back), complete with a bag holder to help you scoop it out and straight into the bag, and better yet, MY CATS LOVE IT! The other box was so disliked they'd stand half way in and pee on the litter mat. But this hasn't happened once since I started using this box. The only thing I have to complain about was that it was damaged when it arrived (shown in photo of cracks), but with the help of a little super glue to piece the cracks together, it's not enough to stop me from loving this. I'm sure the damage happened while it was being shipped, although when I was piecing the product together I don't see how it would have been possible to complete without the damage, fitting the prongs into the holes would have been impossible to do had it not been broken! Perhaps someone else will have a better time with it, but clearly the person before me didn't (I bought it used.) Also, one of the prongs were missing from the door, so I took an old pair of headphones, sawed the plug-in in half, and super glued it to the side of the door and voila! This litter box makes me feel like McGyver, but seriously, I highly recommend this litter box. I'm so sure it was a fluke that mine arrived damaged, so please, don't let my review stop you from buying this wonderful litter box!! & If it is damaged, just get creative, it's worth it!

I wasn't too sure about this box when I ordered it. But it came and I'm now In love with it. A large box which is what I wanted as I have four cats, one who is a little chubby. At 17 pounds she's a big girl. She can get in this box very easily, and turn around with no problem. Box is very,very easy to clean and since ordering it I have ordered a second one and thrown out one of my other boxes. It looks as if I will be ordering two more as this is probably one of the nicest boxes I've ever owned. If you have a larger cat I highly recommend it. I found cat liners that fit it so it makes it really easy to clean up and change the litter.

cons:
-has 4 clips, not 2 as pictured. one of the main selling points to me was 2 clips (i don't like clips) why can't they show you what you will actually be getting?
-the clips suck. they are very hard to move. i am just going to keep them in "open" position all the time
-when the clips are in locked position you actually see an icon that shows "unlocked", so i thought they were broken. they should show arrows so that you know that to get what you want you have to move the clips
it turns out that i dont even need to take off the hood or deal with clips because of the lifting lid - see below....that made me bump this up to 5 stars.

pros:
-huge, can handle my 18 pound chunky cat
-has a door so that my dog doesn't go digging inside to eat cat poop, as she did with my doorless litter box (this is actually proving to be a magnificent deterrent - problem solved. the dog doesn't go near this!)
-lifting lid, as others have written about, makes it much easier and faster to clean. it is really surprising how much of a difference it makes not to have to take off the hood completely. it saves so much time and effort, i LOVE this feature and glad i found this one. i think they should put this feature in the headline.

I have been working my kitten towards using a box with a lid and door. It was not too hard but the door part was what I was worried about- I showed her and she has been using it just fine. I LOVE Catit products and they are so easy to use and assemble. (I dont understand why people are saying this item was hard to use- meaning using the clips to attach the top to the bottom- HONESTLY if you LOOK at the way the clips are ment to be slid from underneath then it fits perfectly!!!!!!!!!) I also have the matching pet carrier and leave it out in the livingroom and have gotten many compliments on our matching pet carrier and litter box.
