Goofy mechanism and prone to jamming

These got the job done, but it was a bit scary and they were tough to work with. The strap easily got off center, causing it to double up in the spindle. Not only did this cause it to bind, but the metal "guide" exerted enough pressure on the strap that I was worried it would cut through it. This of course happened with it under load, which made it a bit more scary. The hooks are excellent and gave this an extra star, but the jeopardy it put me in keep it down. A wider thicker strap that stayed centered would give a lot more comfort and safety. In addition, it was not easy (possible?) to release the strap with one hand, which made it challenging to spool out the strap while on a ladder. I'm still not quite certain of the proper way to unlock it but I managed to do a few things manually with two hands and ultimately get it to release.

Top class with easy use. I leave them attached to the floor mounts of my toy hauler and use them to hold down my cruiser.
