Good but beware

The unit seems well built and fairly accurate out of the box, but I'm frustrated that it only accepts mini thermocouple connecters and not the standard size. That is no where in the discription. I have a bunch of standard size probes I can't use with it. Omega makes an adapter, but because the port is recessed on this unit, I doubt it would fit.
Cheap, bad instructions.

Very poor manual - no help with troubleshooting or error codes. No instructions on how to calibrate. Died after minimal use because it couldn't withstand a humid environment. Used near steamy work areas and it stopped functioming. I opened it up and it was water inside everywhere and no protection against such circumstances.

Cheap, I got what I paid for.

You need to have the manual to operate this all the time. coz the interface is a pain if you do not use it daily. also the manual says press the hold button to get out of max-min record function. its is wrong! you actually have to do a long press on the same max min button to turn off the record mode. otherwise you wont be able to switch the unit off. Other than a c***py manual, this one works good. I compared it with amprobe infrared version and a cheapo Goertek model same time. the infrared model of amprobe was off by 60 degrees at high temperature and the Goertek was off by more than 100 degrees! this is your best bet to use inside a forge, provided you buy a separate hi-temp thermocouple. the k type thermocouple they provide with this is an insult to K type!
Decent instrument

This instrument does not have a lot of bells and whistles which is what I want. Easy to use without having to look -up how to do simple measurements each time. I only have one probe, and once calibrated (using known temp of boiling water) it has been quite accurate. The higher model numbers of this instrument have more functions, but why pay more if you never will use those functions?
Nice instrument: cryptic software
eric c guyer✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 16, 2016
Nice instrument for the money. Just be sure to load single meter software and not the multi-meter software, even though the device is called a multi-logger. I believe software package applies to a variety of amprobe instruments and therein lies the nomenclature confusion. After getting by this frustration, all seems good and software is easy to use. Save file to excel if you want listing of data with actual recording times and not interval number on the X-axis.
