Worked perfectly right out of the box. Had it up and running in about a minute. I synced the transmitter and receiver from within the same room, then started playing with the receiver location throughout the house. I ended up placing them about 80ft apart, with 4 walls (one was a brick fireplace) for their final resting place.

Cons:
You can link multiple receivers to one transmitter, where in the heck can you buy a single receiver?! The ones I have found cost upwards of $250, which is almost a hundred dollars more than a new kit all together!

I can't pin point the problem for sure, but it seems like after 6 months of use, the transmitter's broadcast strength has become weaker, and I had to bump the transmitter one room over (about 14ft and one wall) closer to the receiver because signal was lost between the two. But.... this may be an effect of other new devices in it's broadcast path.

IR push doesn't work with my Qsee cctv system's remote control (which is what I originally bought the actiontec for)
Disappointed

I bought this to share my Cable box in my bedroom with the TV in my gym. The TVs are separated by 15' and 2 walls of a walk in closet.

Good
The setup was straight forward and i was able to share the picture pretty quick.

The BAD
Sound constantly cut in and out.
Picture was good, but stuttered sometimes.
IR extender skipped a lot. I would press 72 on my remote and the cable box would see 77222. Very frustrating.
The TV near the cable box took a while to turn on and made a popping noise every once in a while. The HDMI cable goes from the cable box to the sending unit, to the TV. The sending unit transmits the HDMI Over WiFi to the receiving unit.

The Signal was fair. I think 5GHZ is a poor choice for HDMI over Wifi due to its low range and inability to penatrate walls as well as 2.4ghz..
Why not have the option to use 2.4 or 5Ghz?

Anyone want to buy a used "Actiontec My Wireless TV WiFi / HDMI" ? Half price :).
Good once you get it working, so-so on the IR sensor for your remotes

Once it is working, works pretty good. quality is good, but I noticed sound volume changes, one minute it is the right volume and next it is too loud, might need firmware update, but afraid to try that if it is as complicated as the re-syncing. sometimes there is no picture but there is sound, might be firmware too. out of the box it was a little fuzzy on my setup, so I tried to re-sync. paperwork with the system very limited. on-line manual is more, but directions are a little difficult to execute. I had to keep trying until it I got it. one last thing extended remote IR sensor for the receiver is very limited, need to be within about 6ft to work the cable box at the transmitter end. I cannot be on the other side of the room if I want to change channels.

Pros:
1) picture is good and clean (once you get it setup properly)

Cons:
1) remote needs to be within about 6ft for IR sensor to pick the signal up and transmit it back to transmitter end for your cable box 2) instruction are limited and can be difficult to follow
3) volume goes up and down on its own
Works ok, but too many glitches

I wanted something like this because we bought a small TV for our kitchen, which does not have a cable outlet. I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing one myself, or paying someone else to do it. Nor did I want to have to pay for another cable box, and have this large box in my kitchen. So the easiest solution was a system like this, which wirelessly transmits the signal from one TV to another.

Seemed simple enough, but boy was it a huge headache to get it to work acceptably. For my particular cable box (Scientific Atlanta / Cisco), apparently I needed some kind of special HDMI cable, as well as a firmware update on the transmitters that came in the package. However, I did not find this out until I messed around with trying to set it up for many frustrating hours. There is no mention of anything like that in the package, only on their website, at the very bottom of the product page under "firmware updates". There is a short paragraph about a required HDMI cable (free from Actiontec), and a firmware update which I had to download. Futhermore, I had to find on YouTube of all places two videos put out by Actiontec explaining how to do the firmware update, as well as how to properly set up the system. If you are not computer and/or tech savvy, there would be very little chance you'd be able to finally set this thing up right. I don't consider myself to be a tech retard, but apparently I screwed something up doing the firmware update, and had to be shipped 2 new units. BTW, it took several calls to Actiontec to be "escalated" to an American CS rep...you start off in far-away foreign countries talking to people who don't even speak English.

Long story longer, I finally got the update done, and the HDMI cable installed, and it works now. However, it's very glitchy. The screen freezes up once in a while, and the picture "jumps" often, because the video on the screen can't keep up with the rate data is being transmitted to the receiver unit. While we are in the kitchen, halfway paying attention to something, it's fine, but if you are setting this up in another room to transmit to a primary TV, you will be disappointed in the quality. Also, sometimes when turning on or off the second (receiving TV), the picture on both TV's will go out, and sometimes not come back unless I turn both off and on again. Lastly, the second TV doesn't seem to work unless the first TV is on, so I don't know what that's about. I would think as long as you have your source (cable box) on, that should be enough to transmit to the second TV.

Bottom line is that this product works, but it's very glitchy, and does not work very well. For our purposes (for a second TV used in a kitchen primarily to glance at watching sports and whatnot), it's fine, but if you plan to use this to stream to a theater or primary TV, you will not be happy at all.

Tip: The two TV's are only about 20' apart (around some walls), but there is pretty bad lag between the two. If you switch to "gaming mode" it's much more synched up, but the picture quality is much more "jumpy" and just worse. The lagged sound drives us crazy, so we keep it on gaming mode, but it does degrade the quality of the picture.

EDIT: After a few months, I am downgrading this another star. Constantly have to unplug the power cord on the back in order to get my first TV to receive a signal, also I get a lot of picture glitches and blackouts. Once in a while it will settle down and not cause a problem, but it is about half the time I have to fiddle with something on one of the units to get the TV to work properly. Not happy, but there aren't a lot of options out there...
Works great. Needs a bit of understanding and good placement.

This is a pretty nifty HDMI transmitter and much cheaper then its competitors. I have had the pleasure of testing it out for 3 weeks now and so far it has been a pretty good system after playing with it. I currently use this to transmit my NVR (Video Surveillance System) to my tv. This hdmi transmitter and receiver allows me to hide and lock up my NVR as well as allow me to view the NVR, configure it and view my cameras live as if my NVR was directly plugged into my tv via an hdmi cable. The best part of all is that both the transmitter and receiver have USB ports on it which can open up possibilities. The manual states it is made for firmware upgrades but it can do more. The transmitter has a mini female USB port and receiver has a standard female USB port. So I was able to use a USB mouse with my NVR. Simply purchase a mini male USB to standard male USB cable for the transmitter and then plug the mouse into the USB port on the receiver and your done. This can be very ideal for laptops and I don't see why you couldn't even use a usb data drive of some kind and transmit data wirelessly. But I have only tested it with a mouse. The mouse has a bit of a latency issue so it wouldn't be good for games but it could be used for navigating around a computer or menus.

This device comes pre-synced so you don't have to sync the transmitter and receiver. However, if they become unsynced for some reason they both have a sync button on them. It comes with a well illustrated and color pictured manual so it is very easy to setup. For some reason, I could not get it to work in my entertainment room. I had it setup for testing where my Amazon Prime media box was transmitting to my projector in my entertainment room, which was only 10ft away through 2 walls. It worked the first time and then after I unplugged the devices to situate them better and plugged them back in it wouldn't work. After calling tech support and being on the phone for an hour the tech told me there must be some kind of interference in the walls between the transmitter and the receiver even though I knew there wasn't. Just hollow walls and since it was inside walls there was no insulation. Luckily that was just for testing purposes. I used it on my NVR and it worked with no problems. It is about 25ft away inbetween 1 hollow wall. Sometimes when I reboot the NVR I get a nasty green pixelated screen and the only way to fix it is to power cycle the transmitter and receiver but other then that it works as needed.

Bottom line it does what it is supposed to do. It has a couple hiccups here and there and since hdmi wireless transmitters are somewhat of a new technology its going to happen. But for the low cost of this device and for my particular setup it works great.
