Poor design change
Betsy Fribert✓ Verified Purchase•January 8, 2018
I bought this as a replacement. The screen assembly broke on the original one. If this didn't have the OXO brand I'd swear it was a knock-off product. The screen does not fit the diameter of the canister properly and allows grinds to come up. Also the handle for the lower assembly was redesigned and doesn't attach to the canister. Poor design change.
Doesn't filter out the grounds

It lets grounds through to the pour. I think as a result of it not being an all metal and glass design. I have another press that uses an all metal spring loaded filter and it works great. I tried this one because of the easy cleanup. It is easier to clean but I don't think it's worth it due to the poor grounds filtering.
Bettet than Bodum orig

This perfectly fits the Bodum 4 cup frame yet feels like stronger glass than what came with the press when new. And was priced lower the Bodum version! WIN-WIN.
You will drink a lot of coffee grounds.

Disappointed. Purchased because the ground lifter seemed like an awesome idea, which is correct.
But the plunger screen does not fit snugly in the carafe. Inevitably grounds wash around the plunger and end up floating around in your coffee.
The screen on the nozzle catches the bigger grounds but the fines pass right through and end up in your cup. The last few sips are a gritty, muddy mess. I have experimented with coarser grinds but even with practically whole beans there is still a lot of grit in the coffee.
On the plus side, the ground lifter works well and makes cleanup easy. It's nice and compact on the counter. My other press has a big ornate handle and a wide base. That just seems to take up more room.
