I used this with a 150 watt infrared heat emitter to keep older chicks in the garage warm. I secured it on top of the wire cover and the chicks perched underneath it. I like that it has an on/off switch.
Good fixture, just didn’t work for our tank.

Good fixture, just didn't work for our tank. My kids got a turtle as a present and we are having such a hard time finding the right pieces to set it up appropriately. This one would have worked, however it didn't because the bulb stuck out further than the dome. So when we clipped it to the tank, the bulb was pressed against the lid. Basically the bulb we have is too big. I would recommend this for a smaller bulb
Best Solid Dome we have, but check wires if used for years-Possible Hazard

This is a replacement for a 10 year old Zilla. The old one appears to be exactly the same. Just keep an eye on the cord near the lamp. Since you are running heat, the rubber may crack after a period of time (years) and run 24/7. Ours cracked and then the wires made contact, sparking and a fire hazard. I think they need to reevaluate the rubber or design. When I contacted Zilla they just thanked us for the information. It was clearly out of warranty, but I wanted to inform them of the hazard. It is one of the best solid domes and we have a few. Several of the older ones seem to have the same issues if being used for heat and on 24/7 for a few years. I did not see anything that would indicate another maker had a better solution.
UPDATE: Here is what Zilla Sent Me: (Basically they updated the fixture with additional insulation in 2015)
Thank you for bringing the issue you have experienced to our attention. From the sounds of what happened with the 5 inch dome you may have had an arc in the socket. A sever arc in the fixture can potentially sever the cords from the socket. While this is very uncommon we have taken steps to insure that if it does no fire will result, the material of the fixture the wires and ceramic socket are all nonflammable. We have also added another protective measure to the wires in the socket at the beginning of 2015. They now have a heat wrap around the wires in the socket to further insulate them from the heat they are exposed to. Any new fixture you purchase should have the wrap around the wires in the photo I attached.
With the current domes that you have there is one thing you can check on to make sure you do not experience this again. If you check in the center of the fixture, where the bulb screws in, there should be a copper or bronze colored tab, lift the tab so that is about half way up. If the tab is flat it is not coming in contact with the bulb causing the electricity to jump to make the bulb work. Normally this just causes the bulb to burn out early but it can potentially lead to an arc that can damage the wires in the socket. Please make sure that the fixture is unplugged before attempting any trouble shooting.
I will pass along your email to our Quality Control department.

Its great it has a ceramic socket which you need for the amount of heat the bulbs put out,the ones at home depot/lowes there rated for 150 but they have a plastic socket.
Mine came with an on/off switch and mounting hardware

I love this lamp! I do not know about other reviews, but I ordered 2 and they both HAVE AN ON/OFF SWITCH, and have the little mounting clamps. This product is only for a 60 watt bulb and it is not deep dome, so it will not work for all bulbs, but I knew that going into it. I have a 60 watt basking light in one and a 60 watt ceramic heater in another over a 20 gallon tank. I'll have to get bigger domes when my lizard grows, but they're perfect for now!
