warranty term from manufacturer begins before you buy

Thermo Scientific says that the 12 month warranty period begins once they hand this product over to Amazon. So if it sits in their warehouse for 8 months before you buy it then you only have 4 months left on the warranty. When you call for service they will try to sell you a maintenance plan after your warranty runs out.
