Trigger-able MP3 Player
BruceP•September 16, 2017
A simple, trigger-able MP3 player. I'm using it in a home-built security system. It responds to motion detections by playing the sound of a barking dog! But it could be 1/5 the size - the box is mostly empty! I pulled it apart and kept just the front face and the circuit board, to save tons of space in my system.
Needs a MAC version of the software
Roger M.•August 25, 2017
We've been using the same MOH device with a custom recording for about 20 years. Since then, some of the information has become outdated. Companies want an arm and a leg for a new custom recording and a new MOH device (the one we have uses an obsolete chip). I found this one on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Turns out, it does exactly what we need it to do and it works exactly as expected. I used Garage Band on my Mac to make a custom MP3 recording using my voice and some royalty-free music I downloaded online (I didn't like any of the music that came with the device).
So, why did I not give it 5 stars if it works perfectly? Build quality. You can tell this is a cheap, Chinese-made device. If it lasts 20 years like our old, one, then I'll update my review to 5 stars. :)
The Windows-only software that comes with the device includes additional, royalty-free, voice-free music and some generic on-hold messages in male and female versions. The software is simple to use and works surprisingly well, but is very basic. It basically allows you to combine music and messages and create an MP3 file. You can record your own message, but there is no audio editing capability. This is fine if you have a natural "radio" voice and a good microphone - at least for the limited quality of a telephone call. Another nice thing about the software is it does automatic "ducking" (lowing the music volume while messages are playing).

Everything is really great .. Software is very easy to use and very intuitive ...
The only CONS that I really found is the VOLUME button is USELESS because ... it has to be all the way to high
to get a somewhat good sound over the phone ... it could be good if the the sound volume is a 1/2 more louder so button will have sens
of function !!!

Does the Job Well
Voiceguy•May 19, 2017
Does an excellent job. I installed this to replace an FM radio that the original telephone installation company had put on our church phone system. I was able to fill a flash drive with public domain music to play on hold, rather than having callers listen to whatever the radio station happened to be playing.
This unit will play back whatever MP3 files are on the root directory of the flash drive.
The built-in monitor speaker is handy while troubleshooting.

Fantastic unit!!!

Works EXACTLY as advertised, which is fantastic!
Ran into an issue with the USB thumb drive included with the unit; it was very strange as it showed up as 400 MB FAT (not 256 MB, 512 MB, or any other variation). Copied our MOH MP3 file to it, it played okay but every couple of seconds it would "hiccup" and produce a "eeeep" like sound. For the second that it "hiccuped" and "eeeeped" it would drown out the sound of the file that should be playing.
Yanked included USB thumb drive, formatted a "normal" 1 GB USB thumb drive as FAT, copied MP3 file to it, MOH plays properly without any "hiccups" or "eeeeps". This is the only reason for four (4) stars instead of five (5). Would give it 4.99 stars if possible.
