I would have given five stars but when I put mine together the small bolt that holds the rest bar it was to long. I was forced to go out and purchase a new one that is one sized length shorter. It cost me $1.29 at Lowe's because it must be a allen headed bolt. Plus about $8.00 in gas. Other than that small problem it works good. Just take your time and move your chisel slowly. If you dont and dig in to fast or to hard your chisel will fly out of your hands and cause a lot of harm or damage.
Excellent for learning.

First, this item is phenomenal value for the price it cost. For one who NEVER turned wood before, it helped to form an instant addiction and to highlight the need for a proper lathe.

Downsides? This is not for hard woods. I made a chess set from pine and cedar, no problem. Then I tried to turn a hardwood ice-cream scoop handle, only to have the mandrel break. For around $20, this was no catastrophe. Still, this is not a full-size lathe that's just standing up instead of lying down: this is a drill press attachment that lets you do mini-work.
great tool

As a beginner wood turner, this is perfectly capable of letting me create some basic turnings. It took some adjustment to work with my drill press, but I got it working pretty quickly.Excellent way to add some lathing capability to a your drill press.Great attachment, sturdy, expect to make modifications (shorten tool rest, screws too long or short). . Order chisels, because you'll want to try it right away ! Makes mountains of sawdust. Glad I purchased. Its been fun trying new things. I was even able to make pencil holders for my friends art class. It was fast and easy with this amazing tool. I recommend this to all men
Solid stuff... make sure your drill is up to it

This did not work at all for me. The product is fine, but my drill press wasn't up to it. It is a good solid product however. If you have a serious drillpress (better than my 100$ Ryobi) I am confident you will be satisfied.
It works for me

It performs as I expected it would. So far I've used only to turn the round ends of stool legs. Setting up was slightly tricky only from the perspective of making the workpiece strait from the drill press chuck to the lathe spindle. To do this I first made sure the drill press table was perfectly perpendicular to the chuck. I then used a square to make sure the work piece was straight up and down between the chuck and spindle. From there the process of turning went fine for me.
