A very nice lamp. The LEDs should last you the rest of your life basically at 50,000 hrs so it kind of pays for itself assuming it doesn't fail in another way.
I like the cool tone - it's easier on the eyes, imo. The touch sensor is great - just touch anywhere on it or slide your finger to turn it on to varying degrees of brightness. This could be more precise but it's plenty good as is. I think that the touch panel should have been located on the first, vertical shaft as opposed to the middle, angled shaft - the way I have my lamp now and how most would have it - I find that its actual location is a bit hard to operate while sitting (although do-able).
I use this for reading and for lighting my small apartment living room - sometimes to brighten up the place and sometimes to throw a dim light on the wall at night when I'm watching tv. (I like how you can face the light bar in any way - I like to point it back and up a wall.)
My father has the previous generation and I much prefer this one because of its touch sensor and the greater number of LEDs (it's supposed to be brighter too.)

Overall, it's an excellent lamp. I bought one as a gift for a friend, and everyone liked it so much that I ended up getting another for myself. I especially like the flexibility of it. It can function as a reading lamp, piano lamp, accent lamp, etc. - whatever you need. The joints all seem very solid. They're stiff enough that everything stays in place however you position them, but they're still easy enough to move. It's also a fairly lightweight piece, so it never feels top-heavy and it's easy to pick up and move around. The base does a very good job of keeping the whole thing steady no matter the angle or height of the arms.
As far as looks go, it's very minimalistic. It's great if you want something unobtrusive and functional, but it's not going to be a showpiece in your room.
Assembly was very quick and easy.
The touch control takes a little getting used to, and sometimes it takes a few tries to get the dimmer exactly where you want it. But other than that I have no complaints.

The Z-Bar is beautiful, highly functional object. If clean lines, minimalistic design, and high quality materials are your thing, buy this lamp. The dimmer is excellent and very usable throughout the range. It goes from a nightlight-soft glow to a brilliant bright stripe of task light, with many levels in between. The lamp can be used as a room light or reading/task light.
My one criticism: I bought the "warm white" version, but I do not consider the light to be really warm. It is more like neutral. As with most LEDs, I see sort of a faint greenish hue to the light-nothing really bad, mind you, but it's there. I am super picky, however, so you take that last part with a grain of salt. The good news: if you are a DIY type, you can alter the color of the lamp by removing the plastic end cap of the bulb bar and slipping strips of colored lighting gel behind the diffuser. I have done this with other LED lamps and gotten *exactly* the color I was after with a little experimentation.

We purchased this light a couple of years ago and it broke. The versatility of the arms was not available in other lights, so we opted to repurchase. The on/off switch is now a graded bar and is a pain. I am also concerned that the price is way out of line for a light that only lasted a few years. We tried to contact the company to help us fix the first one and could not reach anyone.

This is an amazing concept and a really cool lamp that provides exquisite light where ever you want it. It is, though, best used for a room that only one occupies. I use it to compute, read, and even put together (ready-to-assemble) furniture. However, when someone else is in the room (even if I angle the LED to the wall, ceiling or behind us) it doesn't create the same ambiance as a regular-old lamp. I love this lamp; but if you're looking to put it in a room used by more than one person, you'll still need another light source.
(update -- Feb. 22, 2014) I've never bought such an expensive lamp. Then, too. I've never owned such an unobtrusive, easily adjustable and manipulated lamp. The Koncept floor lamp is incredibly light, but very stable. I've set it slightly to the left and behind the chair I use to compute and read in. I angle the LED portion of the lamp to suit the task I'm doing. It swivels easily and provides and enormous amount of brightness. The fact that I can control the brightness by simply running my finger along the lamp is quite delightful.
