GOOD FOR BEGINNERS - NOT EXPERIENCED SPANISH SPEAKERS

This is worthless for phrase translation, with short AAA battery life and is ONLY about 3 inches tall and 2 - 1/2 inches wide. Small screen, low volume pronunciation with no volume control. Very Small Screen very small keys and THIS IS ONLY AN ELECTRONIC DICTIONARY AND WILL NOT TEACH Spanish. Also will not give exact translation, for I have been studying Spanish for 4 years and bought this for phrase usage. ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS EXCEPT FOR DICTIONARY ONLY and NOT EXACT. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

I ordered 2 translators. It's a great value for the price. I strongly recommend it. The only reason for the lower star rating is due to one defect (taken care of) and the complexity of the instruction booklet (easy, once you work with it a bit). Although one of the 2 translators I ordered did not work, Amazon was fantastic, as usual, to allow for a replacement at no charge. I like the many features the unit provides, and especially the voice mode to hear pronunciation. The instruction book is thorough, but should have a quick-start guide that explains that if you want to type a word in to get a translation, first pick "books," then scroll across to the book you want (Spanish to English dictionary, or English to Spanish, or Visual dictionary, or synonyms) and then type your word. The booklet also explains many of the games and exercises available in the unit.

What happened to Franklin Electronics??!! This thing was good for about 3-4 months, then the screen intermittently went blank (white). I have tried contacting the company itself but they don't seem to exist, yet Amazon keeps selling their "stuff." Very strange. Buyer beware you will be stuck with something that does not work. I will add a photo later.

This is one of the best electronic word learner and dictionary I have ever owned, It is fantastic. I love the back lit full color screen, A Very powerful little learning tool. It even speaks the word you are looking up in English or Spanish, I just love that feature. I also love that you can use regular batteries or rechargeable batteries, It has a port to charge and a port for head phones. For the price I am shocked that it has so many features, If you read the instruction manual it is very easy to use.
Don't waste your money.

One button didn't work from the get go, now if it tilts to either side even a little it goes to a white screen and locks up and you have to remove the batteries to start it back up. Even when you can get it working, it is not very helpful.
