great pickups for metal and rock
sk43•February 17, 2014
I purchased these to put in my 1997 custom shop jackson hard rock maple neck thru poplar wings, I was very hesitant because I put a set of EMG 81-85 in it and they sounded horrible, however the EMG'S sound good in my other guitar with alder wings and hard rock maple neck. so anyway I must say these pickups are great this is the first set that I actually use the neck pick up for soloing, it is such a smooth transition from the bridge to the neck pick up, the notes sing very Ingwie sounding but bolder and more pronounced,.single note bends sound awesome and sweeping sounds flawless, the bridge pickup isn't as trebly as the JB model, which is good but it can't touch this bridge pickup. the JB/JAZZ DUNCAN set is what I was using in this guitar for years because it is heavy and can sound very flubby, but these pickups solved the problem, pretty easy wiring, you may have to soder if you have a long distance between input jack and this volumne/ pre-amp pot. I would recommend these pick ups for sure.
