A Sturdy Way to Hang Sliding Closet Doors
Another CD Customer✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 20, 2023
I bought this to replace a less expensive version that allowed the doors to repeatedly jump off the tracks. Although this one was about three times the price of the other system, it was definitely worth the cost. Once it's installed, the doors slide very smoothly and cannot jump off the tracks. It only took about an hour for me to install it, even with my limited carpentry skills, and a lot of that time was a problem with the doors that was not related to the hardware. If we decide to put bypass doors in any of other closets, we'd definitely use this brand of hardware again.
Great Replacement

We have the standard sliding doors on our closets and our previous tracks were 25 years old and giving out. The doors would always fall off. I got these to replace them. SMOOTH AS BUTTER. The initial install was easy. But one part was tricky. That was getting the door up on the clip. But once it was on, it was golden, and it should never fall off the track because of the way it sits. Also, I should mention there was a piece of hardware missing from one of my packages. I contacted Johnson Hardware to tell them I needed a replacement part and they responded within a day. Got the replacement in the mail within the week.
Easy to cut to size with a circular saw, metal blade attachment.

I liked that this system is much more sturdy the traditional systems. I like that it is made in America. I like thatI was able to cut to size with my circular saw, metal blade attachment. I like that kit was packaged appropriately with all parts.
I did not like the directions, poorly written. For example the first page of the directions should have a parts list with pictures.
Overall I am completely satisfied.
Very Nice!! ~Really....put the back door in first, no kidding...

Wow, these are really smooth, actually the nicest sliding closet doors I ever had. Normally I would have installed this myself, but had to get two new knees in December so I hired a friend. You ~really~ have to put the back door in first, but if you don't, you don't have to take the front door out in order to get the back door in, you just have to loosen the hardware at the top of the door, the inner edge, and slide it back out of the way - if you happen to put the front door in first. Otherwise, really do, put the back door in first. Once you get the hardware in and the doors hung and adjusted, you are going to love what you did for yourself! Oh, we had to cut about an inch off to fit this in the door opening, just so you know. We have a power miter saw, went out and purchased a blade for cutting metal, that made the task not too bad. The rails (that's what I call them) and hardware are very high quality.
Work extremely well, installation slightly challenging

I wish I had bought and installed this sliding door hardware 20 years ago when I bought the house we are in. The original sliding door hardware never worked well and the doors were constantly coming off the tracks. The new Johnson hardware works great (I have installed it on two sets of doors), it looks like the doors can never come off the tracks unintentionally. You need reasonably good handyman skills to install the hardware, the instructions are excellent but you need to be aware of what you are doing and competent wrt alignment of the new track and drilling holes to hold it in place. It took me 2 or 3 hours to install each set of hardware on my own, it would have been much faster and easier if I had a helper.
