I sold my previous standard model Hi-Lift jack when I sold my Jeep 15 years ago. Last year I got a Jeep again and needed to replace the Hi-Lift. I spent a little more money and got the FR485 First Responder model. The larger foot plate and pivot capability make it a lot more versatile in the back country than my old standard version.

Expensive but worth it. The powdercoat came off on the first use so I called Hi Lift and they sent me a new beam with an updated coating on it. It had to be lubricated out of the box to make it operational but it is mechanical and it goes with the nature of the product. Keep a can of WD-40 with it. Excellent customer service from Hi Lift.

The jack itself is very heavy duty and American made.however the paint job is too thick causing the pins to not properly work.woeked great raising my truck but when when I flipped the switch and tried to lower it the jack didn't move.then it suddenly slammed down causing the handle to slam my thumb into the jack and break my thumb.once again if you clean the yellow paint off it should be a nice jack.will post an updated review when my thumb is healed and I can clean the horrible paint job off and test my theory.

Nice, big, heavy, and solid product. A little scary to use at times, but I don't think there is any other product out there that can do what this thing does. The yellow paint flaked off the very first time I used it. I was torn between getting this and the Hi-Lift Xtreme and then getting the First Responder base plate conversion. It would have only costed me a little bit more and now I really regret not doing that.
