My 2nd Pure Fix bike experience
Firefly✓ Verified Purchase•April 1, 2016
This is my first bike in years. After waiting 2 years to get a Pure Fix bike, I finally did it. The product arrived on time and in great order. I had it assembled at my local bike shop. The bike came out the box in free wheel, so I had a rear brake added, bull horn handle bar, tape, seat, and upgraded to better thick slick tires. I confirmed with the bike mechanic all was good and he mentioned a fellow mechanic was impressed with the ride of the bike. I have been riding the bike for 3 days and noticed how quick the bike picks up on flat ground. Hills are another issue, but have to get in shape to conquer. I would highly recommend the bike to others for price, commuting, and making a bike to match your own personality. I may add one more upgrade, but am completely happy with my purchase.
Purchased my second Purefix bicycle "The Uniform Yellow Original". Product arrived early and in good condition. My only disappointment is the product didnt match the picture. "The product should always match the picture being displayed or remove the incorrect picture." I got a white seat when the seat should be black. The rims didnt come with the yellow symbol on them and I didnt get the upgrade thickslick tires as shown in the second picture. I was fortunate to have the black seat from my other bike to use on this new one. Other than that, the bike looks great and rides great.

you will probably need to change out some stuff. the seat is very curved and narrow, about 130mm. i dont know anyone that this sit bones that this would be meant for. my wife is 5'3" and that was too narrow for her too. the gearing is very optimistic unless you live in a very flat area. i live in austin tx, and 44/16 was way too much. i got a 20t freewheel to allow me to climb the modest hills here at any reasonable speeds. now its about 14-15mph at 80 cadence or rpm which is a good cruising speed unless you like to get after it. if you want to cruise around and you are not a "cyclist" then you will need to change the freewheel and chain, which requires a chain tool and freewheel wrench. there is no rear brake so do not go fast at all until you get one. the geometry on "fixies" is super generic so on the large sizes expect lots of toe and tire overlap. the weight distribution is really far back so if you want it to be stable at higher speeds then you will need bullbars and you will also need to move the seat way forward to get some weight on the front.
all that being said, i really like the bike. it is way cheap compared to a "road bike" and looks sick. its fairly light for a steel frame, 27 lbs for a 64cm. a single speed is a totally different experience than multispeed bikes. road bikes have paperweight tire that get flats a lot, this bikes tires are really tough. you can ride on unimproved shoulders and walking trails with no problems. its not a mountain bike but it is not delicate at all. if you change the gearing to something appropriate for your area then you'll be fine, but that means more money.

The rear wheel was assembled as single gear at default you need to flip the wheel to the fixed gear side. Don't forget to flip the tire matching the rotational direction. All parts are loose. Tighten eveything, break, saddle (not only the one to adjust the hight but the angle of the saddle), even screws for cup holders. I rode, about 300 miles and had the first flat. Typical for new bike which uses cheap tires. Buy a good tire and tube when you buy this for just in case, which would happen soon or sooner. Choose a tube with long valve length. 42mm valve won't fit to the deep v shaped wheels.
I have 4 stars because I am a keen reviewer. I save 5 stars for an excellent product, but my 4 is equivalent to 5 for others.
I love the bike a lot. It took me a week to get used to with fixed bike. I still cannot skid, but resisting the spin sufficiently slows and stops. The skid may require pedal covers, but that seems too much for me.

I got a PureFix based on a friends recommendation, whos been happily riding his for two years, and it was the right choice. Easy to assemble, and after a short test ride I tweaked a few things, namely tightening the saddle to the post and straightening out the stem, both preassembled. The brakes squealed at first, but after cleaning the rim its been smooth. All that was the first day, and since then I've put in some serious miles. No problems.
When I took it in to get tuned up at the shop, I expected to hear the dude give me a laundry list of the things to replace, but he honestly only had good things to say. I mentioned how other reviews talk poorly about the tires, but he said theres been very few people who come in with a new Pure Fix in need of repairs. I'll certainly be upgrading parts over time, but its a great intro into the fixed gear world.

Perfect for what I need.

Ive been looking for a fixie/single speed bike for the past 6-7 months, and I didn't really want to spend too much, since it's just for fun and casual downtown riding. I've heard a lot of negative things about pure fix from the "elite bike people" but looking at price, looks, and customer service. I felt that purefix was the way to go, and I was right.
AMAZON prime two day shipping, no problems, perfect box, no scratches, or dings, and had no missing parts. Bike was put together really quick, and painless.
Only issue is my freewheel is bad, it makes a knocking noise when peddling forward and gets louder during higher speeds. So I only use the fix gear side of the hub. No big deal, maybe I can get a new freewheel in time.
Overall this is a great bike.
