Returned this model to upgrade to MUS 4.3 and I love it!
Big T•January 15, 2017
I ordered the wrong charger by accident, so I had to return this and purchase the correct one. This is primarily for 6volt batteries for motorcycles etc. I needed a higher amp unit for cars. I love the new correct one, very well engineered products. I originally saw this on Jay Leno's Garage tv show and liked the features CTEK puts in these charger products that others do not offer. The MUS 4.3 that I now have has a five year warranty. The other brand I had previous only had 1yr and failed after 15 months.
So simple, even a cave man can do it!

This thing is awesome. I like the fact that it takes the guess work out of figuring out if your battery is wet cell, agm or gel. It just goes to work and does it's thing. It comes with a set of alligator clamps and a set of cable connectors that just attach to the battery. I connected mine to the battery directly to my motorcycle and walked away. At first I didn't think it was working as it stayed at stage 2 of the charging process for a very long time but by the next morning it was reading that the battery was fully charged. The battery is brand new but it was installed later this summer. With the colder weather setting in and the oil viscosity I had noticed the bike was getting harder and harder to start. I know cold weather is life sucking for batteries but I had no idea how much charge had left it. The ends of the alligator clamps and the eyelets is a simple female plug. There are end caps to those that fully engage the plug with rubber keeping dirt and water from reaching the metal connectors inside it. I routed the cable end through the drainage hole of the battery pan. Plug in walk away or just disconnect and ride! I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a simple charger that will take the guess work away. For the price I feel it is well worth it and you're not buying a new battery at the beginning of spring definitely makes it worth it.
CTEK The Best Charger Company!

I have a 2008 sports car that came from the factory with a CTEK charger similar to the US 0.8 (Actually model US 800).
The battery in this car has lasted 8 years and still going strong. It tests perfectly at full capacity to my surprise. I attribute this extraordinary battery longevity to the CTEK charger. My other occasional use cars using various chargers have had a lot of battery issues. Now I have removed those chargers and replaced them all with CTEK units. I am confident that my battery problems are finally over due to the superior and safer technology used by CTEK.
It would have been nice to discover all this sooner but at least I know it now. Thank you CTEK! P.S. Customer support is excellent!

I've bought a couple of these - if you plan ...

I've bought a couple of these - if you plan to use it to maintain a car battery while in storage - this will do the trick. It's too small to charge a low or weak car battery in anything resembling a timely manner - but it will certainly function a well as the more expensive / more powerful Ctek chargers for maintenance purposes.
One thing I found interesting - I took my car out on a long highway drive a few weeks ago - about 70 miles each way - then after I got home and unloaded a few packages - I went out to get gas and came home (probably 5 miles each way), and hooked up this charger. It took about 6 hours before the charger thought the battery was fully charged, and moved to maintenance charge mode - that tells me that the Ctek charger brings the battery up to a slightly higher charge level than the cars own charging system does. I can't speak to this chargers reliability, at least not yet - but I do also have the bigger brother to this guy, and it's going strong after a couple of years. I do believe the restore function on the bigger Ctek's does help keep an older battery going - this model doesn't have that feature - but aside from it's lower power output it seems to be a well designed, well built unit.

Cheap insurance - or cheap assurance - literally

I'm now a converted CTEK follower. They really do make a difference. I now have three of them. The 25000, the 4.3 and this one. My 8 month old lawn mower battery was taking a full charge from the Battery Tender charger (green light) but it wouldn't start the engine after sitting all winter. It would give me about 15 seconds of actual starter engagement (three bursts) before it would collapse and I know better than to drain it dead or below 10 volts. So I hooked it to the 4.3 and performed a "recond" and one day later the battery is like new. It holds voltage twice as long during a start cycle and doesn't fall off the "voltage cliff"like before. The 25000 has resurrected one of the generator batteries from stone dead (the second one was too dead and couldn't be revived). That probably means I'll get two seasons out of these cheap lead acid batteries before I start swapping them all for lithium or sulfur ion when those prices become reasonable.
