Timer is great. I

Timer is great. I have an item I want on at 6:00 am and off at 2:30 Monday - Friday... and sometimes I would forget to turn it on in the morning and it would put me behind an hour or so, and worse some times i forgot to turn it off at 2:30. Now it is one less thing I have to concern myself with on a daily basis. I have been using my original one for about 4 years, and when I needed another one, I knew exactly what I wanted. My wife wanted this for our Christmas tree, so she did not have to reach behind the tree to plug it in and unplug it every day.... this was the trick. I have another one on hand for when it is needed now.... programming can be a little intimidating, and tedious, but it is much better than the alternative of not having it. I have worn out mechanical ones, but these digital ones seem to keep on going.
No auto daylight adjust

Is almost unacceptable to have a timing device wo auto daylight adjust these days, and this 50008 doesn't, but for my particular application +/- 1 hr acceptable, I plan to leave it unadjusted when daylight changes. I can find no similar size/smaller device with daylight auto adjust. Feature: 7 days, 20 individual on/off programs. Manual on/off override (schedule mode will not resume until one selects AUTO again). Pro: Small, doesn't block second outlet, inexpensive. Desired features absent: Auto Daylight adjust, backlit display, no visual indicator when switch on. Switching off/on activates a relay with soft but audible click. Idle power consumes 2 watt. LCD contrast on the weak side, buttons are unlit and no tactile nor audio feedback. There is, what looks like a soldered coin battery inside 1.3V which may needs to be replaced at some point.

I should have read the reviews. It doesn't work, straight out of the package. Directions have no indication of the weird RCL button. Tried it, but nothing changes. Garbage product. Sadly, I no longer have the packaging and cannot get a refund. Don't buy!!!
Easy and accurate - Recommended!

Very easy to use once you understand the mechanics. I had an old mechanical timer that started making the loud humming sound that drove me crazy. Being digital, this obviously does not make any sounds and is very accurate.
Instructions on how to use, since a lot of people seem confused:
-There are 20 "on/off" options so you can be VERY custom with your schedule. You dont have to use all of them obviously, but it is a nice option.
-Click the clock and the hour/minute buttons to place the correct current time
-After that, just hit PROG (it should say "1 On") and place the time you want you light or whatever on, click PROG again to pick when you want it off.
From there, you can customize up to 20 preset schedules, just remember that there's AM and PM there, so the PM hours take longer to get to by hitting the button. It might take some time to set the timers, but after that you can set it and forget it!

Has one quirk

Love it, but has one quirk. After you progam it, you need to cycle through the on-auto-off setting once, then set it to auto to get it to recognize your schedule. And double check the schedule you entered. With so many options and programs, it is easy to mix up on/off, am/pm, and days settings.
