A problem became no problem

Problem: this product arrived with a broken seat clip. I call Kaman Healthcare and they redirected me back to Amazon. I thought I was about to receive the classic run around but Amazon agreed, almost immediately, to ship a new S-115 to me and it arrived sooner than they said it would. They also paid shipping both ways. Therefore no problem.
As to the product itself, it is exactly as advertised and required no assembly. All you have to do is adjust the length of the footrests (which required the tools provided) and you're ready to go. The 18" S-115 is very maneuverable and fits through narrow doorways. I especially like the light weight and the compact size due in part to the folding seat back. It's lighter than most transport chairs I have used and I don't have to remove the foot rests to fit it in the back of our SUV. After using the chair for a month the chair feels as solid as day one.

Some scary things to watch out for.

I like a lot of qualities about this chair. I've had it about a month. I'm an average height and weight 5'5", 130 lbs and am having a few serious concerns with the safety of this chair. 1) when I lean forward to move the footrests, it tips forward onto the foot rests, I actually fell out of it (hence my height and weight to give you an idea). 2) the front wheels will not easily go over a bump, so I get thrown forward, even as little as a 1" lip in cutout curbs. A brick sidewalk with a few holes, all dangerous. The companion pusher tries to push harder to make the front wheels go over the bump and it won't, only throwing me forward more. We then have to back over or they push on one of the bars on the back which only lifts one wheel, then they have to either lift the other wheel over or push on the other side bar. Thresholds are also an example of a problem where the front wheels will not just roll over. It's not only annoying over time but dangerous. I've looked for replacement wheels and don't find any for this model. I'm looking into a seatbelt but still will be a nuisance if we are out and about for a day with multiple bumps or thresholds to deal with.
Fall warning

This wheelchair looks good and is light. However, if I bend over to tie my shoes or reach in front of me for anything I fall out of the chair. It has nothing that prevents the chair from rolling over frontwards. Very dangerous. I can not be alone and use this chair.
Karman S-115 Ergonomic Ultra Manual Wheelchair! LOVE it!! I will re-purchase if this ever dies. Lightweight 24 lbs.

I purchased this wheelchair out of box "As Is". Though it was missing the gray cover and seat padding, and 2 nuts; Amazon has since compensated me. I love how light the chair is, yet it is durable. I am 5' 10.5" tall, slender gal, and that is the maximum height I'd recommend for this sized wheelchair. IF you are taller, I'd get a different model. I am 148 pounds, and I have a little room without my hips pushing up against the sides of this 18x18 inch wheelchair. The chair back folds down and this helps to fit it into the car trunk better. The foot rests can come off, but for ease we just leave them attached. The chair is about 24 pounds which is a gem compared to my last chair which weighed 33 lbs. It has ergonomic grips on the wheels to make propelling them easy when I have the strength to roll myself around a few aisles in a store. This was my first purchase and experience with Karman wheelchairs, and it will not be my last. I LOVE this product!!
Better Than Expected!

I was a little hesitant buying a wheelchair on line, but my 92 year old Dad and I were traveling to a wedding and I knew I needed one for him. Amazon seemed to be the best bet. (Not a lot of time to shop and I live in a small town so the choices are limited at the 2 medical supply stores in town). I did quite a bit of research on the various chairs (including the manufacturer's web site) and finally settled on this one. It's Great! Light weight, easy to fold and it fits into the back seat of my compact car. My Dad likes it (comfort) and because of the ease of getting it ready for him uses it instead of his walker when we're out and about. The only "down" side are the pads. When you are folding it up they tend to get in the way and so we don't use them all that much since it's only used for travel. Highly recommend.
