Keto buttercream frosting!!
Rebecca✓ Verified Purchase•August 12, 2017
Bought this to make buttercream for birthday cupcakes - by gosh - it tastes & works exactly as powdered sugar!
It does have this weird cooling sensation though - less so once frosting "crusts" but still somewhat. Super weird drinking water right after trying it. Still better than using sugar for glycemic purposes.
Made sugar free protein muffins as cupcakes & needed a worthy frosting. It worked. Perfectly!

Great sweetener for low carb diets!

Swerve is an excellent alternative to people who are looking to eat on a low carb diet, or to cut calories from sugar. It tastes almost exactly like sugar except for a very slight cooling effect. It comes in true granulated form, just like granulated sugar. That said, if you are using it in something that does not require heating and does not have sufficient liquid to dissolve the product, keep in mind that it WILL stay as a granulate! I recently made fat bombs on my low carb diet using Swerve, butter, and cream cheese, and the swerve did not dissolve in the mixture. I should have known better! It still tasted good despite having a bit of the granulated texture.
Sweet, sweet deal! Going to make pie for hubby now!

I have used the Powdered Swerve in frostings before at my daughter's recommendation, and was well pleased with the results. When I discovered I was almost out of my Powdered Swerve AND my regular erythritol mix, I started searching and found this pack. I was delighted to find this bundle that includes both powdered and granulated sweetener.
In my opinion, Swerve is an excellent substitute for refined sugar. As a sugar alcohol, it is safe for the diabetic in my family and does not spike my glycemic level, yet measures the same as sugar and tastes like sugar. As I have been working on weight loss and healthy eating, this is an integral component that helps keep me from craving off-plan sweets. One comment about the taste/sensation of products like Swerve - you will enjoy them more if you get off of refined sugar, but it isn't required, and any sweetener that contains Erythritol causes some people to experience a slight cooling effect in their mouth when eating it. I actually no longer notice that, and just enjoy the yumminess of my home made treats!
When I opened my Amazon box, I thought at first I only had one bag of Swerve in there, but it is shrink wrapped together - the powdered and granulated bags - and arrived undamaged and ready for me to open.
When you start using Swerve, I recommend that you try a little less than the amount of sugar in a recipe, and increase it as desired. Sometimes I use less, and sometimes more, but in general, it tends to be pretty much the same measure as sugar. One last thing - unlike products with xylitol in them, Swerve is not toxic to my dog.
PROS:
Conducive to weight loss and maintenance
Does not spike your glycemic level
Safe for diabetics
Measures like sugar
Tastes like sugar to most people
Has both powdered and granulated Swerve - one package of each - in this listing
Not toxic to my pup
CONS:
It is more expensive than refined sugars, but I also no longer have to take as many prescriptions to regulate blood pressure, etc having lost over 50 pounds so that part doesn't bother me at all
CONCLUSIONS:
I wish it were on Subscribe & Save for the convenience, but I'm going to "adult" and keep watch on my pantry so I don't run out... but if I did run out, I know with Prime I can have my cake in a day or two, and it will be worth the wait! (Without the additional *weight*!!!)

Finally! A healthy alternative!
Moxy✓ Verified Purchase•May 28, 2016
Like a lot of people out there, I've had to cut out all the sugar, grains and starches. The problem is, I love to bake! I also love sweets! Believe me, it hasn't been easy!!! I was constantly looking for alternatives which always lead me to a dead end. So after researching Swerve, I decided to give it a try.......I've used it in cookies, cakes, frostings, put it in my coffee and my smoothies and I have to say, I'm impressed! It doesn't effect your blood sugar so I don't find my heart rate bumped up after using it, works just as good as sugar. I know we all have different taste buds but I didn't experience any bitter after taste. I will say it is very powdery when baking with it, so expect a cloud of dust when mixing! I've noticed when using the powdered sugar in frostings, it runs a lot sweeter than normal powdered sugar, so you will need to adjust accordingly to your individual taste. Very happy with this product and hope they will offer it in larger packages with a discount :)
Excellent healthier substitute for icing sugar
N. Keithley•May 11, 2016
I have been using this sweetener for some time now, so I 'know' it better, as well as its uses. While I stand by what I said before in my not-so-lengthy review: "GREAT substitute for powdered sugar in Trim Healthy Mama icings on healthy desserts!", I have more to say about it now.
PROS:
Uses a sugar alcohol called Erythritol, which is non-toxic to animals, a natural ingredient which does not negatively impact one's glycemic level
Very finely powdered to substitute for powdered confectioner's sugar (or icing sugar, depending on where you're from)
Measures cup for cup like powdered sugar in recipes
In a sugar-free diet, such as a "trim healthy" one, this is a calorie saver!
CONS:
Not a lot in a bag, but the 3-pack mitigates that inconvenience
If you aren't careful, it will go every-dadgummed-where - to accommodate for that, I recommend spooning or pouring it into your measuring cup with a piece of dry wax paper to help corral the mess in case you are a messy baker like me; AND, I recommend gently spooning it into your mixer when incorporating into a recipe so there is less sugar dust raised. Also - do NOT start the mixer on high speed.... unless you like messes. These are all suggestions I recommend for regular icing sugar, too, by the way.
All in all - this is an excellent substitute for highly processed cane sugar if you are trying to live a trim and healthy lifestyle. I keep coming back and buying more, so that should tell you something!
