No difference for me.
Book LoverDecember 3, 2017
I am not sure what the deal is with this but it is difficult to believe this is a 50% peel. I did not notice anything and used it a couple of times. I am not sure how potent it is but it doesn't seem to be very potent at all. It could be that Lactic Acid just isn't the type of peel that will work on my skin?

Pros: It is a gel so it is easy to apply. It doesn't have a bad smell. Directions included that are easy to follow. Worth a try because many people say this works great for them; some have even said it is too strong. I got better results, much better, from Exuviance peel pads. Those are glycolic acid (I think)
CRACKED HEELS GONE!!!!!
M. SimoneMay 22, 2017
I used to use a sanding block from Home Depot to smooth my heels every week so that the rough skin wouldn't catch on my socks! I don't know what prompted me to put this on my heals but my cracks are gone and my heals are beautiful and smooth !!! So thankful for this peel! I applied a thin layer to my heals and put my heal in a plastic lunch bag. After a few minutes I removed the bag, washed my heal and have done this twice in the last 3 months and will never sand my feet again. Cracks are GONE!
Be careful if you have a lot of melanin

I'm a licensed skin therapist and a Black woman. When applying any chemical peel to brown skin you must be careful and watch for hot spots. This gel peel is great for quick use at home or on clients. But be aware of the time on the skin, Lactic acid can create deep burns and hot spots in rubbed in or not removed correctly.
Professional Quality, Great Results

This definitely delivers a more intense burn than a lot of the peel pads you can buy at beauty stores. I will usually leave masks and things on for longer than the bottle says, but definitely not with this product. I love that I feel like I am getting a spa quality peel at home for a fraction of the price and can do weekly if I choose to. My skin is always smoother and brighter the following day.
Know the difference between glycolic acid peel and lactic acid peel
EdmondJanuary 29, 2016
Barely more than a month ago I was just a newcomer to mini peels, but when I get into something, I do it with gusto. I started out with the 50% glycolic acid peel (also by Perfect Image). The first try didn't go so well, because it burned. Not just tingling, but actually the sensation of heat. I hurriedly washed off the peel. The next time around I diluted the glycolic with water and it felt better, although I was effectively diminishing the effectiveness of the glycolic acid. Next (more than a week after the last peel application - be sure you do the same) I tried a much milder Pineapple Pumpkin enzyme acid peel. It was really comfortable and I liked it. Here is the link: Pineapple Pumpkin Enzyme Skin Peel 1 oz - Enhanced with Papaya Extract & Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Professional Chemical Peel) However, it is well known that the higher concentration acids give you more lasting results. That led me to this 50% Lactic Acid peel which I used last week.

You may think I am crazy. Both glycolic and lactic acids are alpha hydroxyl acids, and are renown for their exfoliating action on the skin. Why get the lactic acid peel when I already have the glycolic peel? True they are both AHA, but they are each good for different things. Here is an excerpt from an article by Bella Visage Skin Studio:

"The Lactic and Glycolic peels are very similar in their actions, but the molecules are slightly different.  A good rule of thumb is the pure Lactic is best for treating age/sun spots and the pure Glycolic is best for treating fine lines. The Glyco/Lac combination is great if you are looking for a revitalizing improvement in tone and texture.

Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA) in skin care and is made from sugar canes. It is the only AHA which is able to penetrate through the cell walls by virtue of its small molecular size. Once inside the cell, it will trigger new formation of collagen and turn on the synthesis of dermal glycosaminoglycans to plump up the cell and the ground substances in the skin to reduce wrinkles on the skins surface. Glycolic Acid also affects the newly forming keratin cells at the bottom of the stratum corneum causing the bulk of the stratum corneum to lift off and separate from the underlying skin. This gives the skin a much smoother look and feel.

The Lactic acid is a natural humectant which occurs naturally in the skin, and because of this it is able to pull moisture from the air and hold it in the skin. The Lactic acid is less irritating and more moisturizing than the Glycolic, and the Lactic can be used at a slightly higher concentration than the Glycolic, because it is not as irritating. The Lactic acid fades pigmentation and pulls moisture into the skin."

So there you have it. It is good to have both glycolic peel and lactic peel in your arsenal. Actually, it is also good to have a salicylic acid peel to alternate. I just ordered one, and will be trying that out shortly - after one week has passed. As for this lactic acid peel, I experienced much less burning sensation than the glycolic. Lactic acid peel is supposed to be better tolerated than glycolic, although I would think part of it is also that this time around I am more used to using an acid peel, and know what to expect as well. Since I have very little fine lines but do have a few blemishes and spots on my face, the lactic acid peel may turn out to be the better product for me than the gycolic peel.
