Okay, so I bought this Solar Fence Charger to keep my two equine miscreants, Blaze and Jasmine, from conducting their daily escape and garden-raid missions. And boy, has it been working wonders!

Let me set the scene for you - imagine two horses, so crafty and cunning they'd put Houdini to shame. Every day, I would find them gallivanting around my beloved azalea bushes, tossing those flowery victims left and right. But thanks to this marvel of modern technology, my dynamic duo now stays firmly behind the line of scrimmage. So, let's all take a moment of silence for the tragic, almost-daily demise of my azaleas... that has now been averted.

But wait! This fence charger has proven it's worth more than just its primary function! One night, under a full moon (because such incidents always occur under a full moon), I was convinced we were being visited by extraterrestrial life. There was this peculiar glow from my backyard, and I, being an avid X-files fan, was convinced this was it - First Contact.

Turns out, it was just the solar-powered charger, fully juiced up and glowing like a kid who found the hidden stash of Halloween candy. That might disappoint some, but not me. I now sleep easy, knowing not only are Blaze and Jasmine kept in check, but any would-be extraterrestrial invaders will think twice before trying to tamper with my alien-deterring, glow-in-the-dark beacon.

Oh, and let's not forget my mother-in-law. She came for a visit once and without knowing what this device was, touched the fence. Safe to say, she's been on her best behavior ever since and she now religiously brings oven mitts for each visit.

So, all in all, this Solar Electric Fence Charger has not only been great for Blaze and Jasmine but also my garden, my peace of mind, and my relationship with my mother-in-law. Five glowing, solar-powered stars!

Have not had any problems with this EXCEPT"¦ birds want to land on the handle and poop on the solar grid"¦ other then that it does a great job. You have to charge it 3 days before your first use.. keep that in mind!

These aren't cheap, but my old one lasted about 5 years. They are powered by a small battery and charged up by solar. I have maybe 500 feet or so of paddock electrified so horses won't chew on cross rails. After buying the new one I found a YouTube vid explains how to take old one apart to get at the battery. Bought a battery fro something like $35. Took old one apart, charged and installed new battery, put back together and works fine. Not hard to do if your a little bit handy. Installed the new one & have a backup.

By the way, this is outside 24/7 in northern Ohio mounted on the barn wall facing south. Not covered and very exposed to elements. Hard to believe that old battery lasted so long (5-6 years) in those extreme conditions. Here it can get below zero and tons of snow in winter & blazing hot in summer. Good product & easy to install.

Used out in the coast range where we have no power. Put fence around newly planted trees and it is working great.

Ok, you put a lot of effort into a garden and then they arrive in the middle of the night"¦ deer. The plants were doing great and in a very short time a pepper plant that was 24" tall and very bushy is mowed down to about 8". Had enough of these quite often delicious but destructive creatures to your garden. I had it and purchased this solar fence power unit. So far after almost a month in service my plants have bounced back, although not going to produce as much but I'm very happy. Have pics of deer at night standing outside the fence looking in, keeping their distance. Also had one try to break in and bust one of my lower wires, but must have gotten shocked and retreated. Repairing the fence is a snap.. the solar power unit works great and I'm getting about 7.5kv all around the fence. I should have installed an electric fence years ago.
