I love eel from Japan. I'll eat the fresh. The frozen. The dried. And the canned. Everyone has its own personality. They just have to fix the tin can from opening much easier.

This stuff is great. It's very sweet, with a little mild hint of spiciness. The texture isn't that of Unagi Don; less soft and more tough, similar to what a canned mackerel would feel like. There's bones in there (no ribs from what I can tell, but a spine), but just like a sardine or mackerel, they're super soft and chewable. You don't even notice them. And, if you're like me, you enjoy eating them. There are no heads, and they're gutted.

A little pricey but I haven't found anything similar in stores near me.

10-20% of each package was small bones resembling vertebrae; fairly easy to remove.

This has freat flavor and no fishy smell.
