The padding is good for about a month (in my case). After that its like its not even there. I recommend just saving your money and buying some pool tubes and cutting along the sides. Much more comfortable, spreads the weight of the sousaphone more evenly and you can find them at the dollar store and they come in different colors. For a longer lasting material, use the foam tubing used to cover outdoor airconditioning cables. You can find those at a hardware store.

This is perfect! I was concerned about how well this would actually cushion. It has eased the shoulder pain for my son. Will make his upcoming band camp more bearable. So glad to have found this item.

Fantastic pad! I've been playing the sousaphone for over 20 years, figured it was time to switch up from the old traditional padded leather strap. Great decision. I have a King and an Olds, it fits both perfectly, and the velcro allows for quick changes. The neoprene makes the pad stay in place, so you don't have to constantly adjust it while playing. I volunteer with a high school marching band, and we ordered one of these pads for our sousaphone player. It is very easy to install on the horn.
