When I learned that several large organizations are using this collar for training their service animals, I thought this added some credibility to the use of this collar. I decided to go ahead and get this collar for our English Cream Golden Retriever. Oliver wants to lead and pulls. We have tried just about every type of leash and collars available. From the harness which pulls back on the chest to various types of collars, none of which seemed to work well for our dog.

Granted, in trying any new collar or device, it takes time. One cannot expect miracles overnight! When you try a new type of collar or leash, you have to work with the dog repeatedly until he/she gets it (or you). In our case, we are using this collar along with a short leash and it seems to be helping. I am not fond of the choker as it will literally choke a dog. Worse yet, if one does not properly place a choker on a dog, it will not recess back to a normal position. That's the beauty of this collar. It does not have to fit a certain way because there is only one way to put this one on. You simply have to make sure that it's tight enough (one or two fingers slide snug under the collar) that when you tug on the collar, the two end points of the chain comes together tightly. This is how the corrective measure works. It tightens up and then recess or relax to a normal position when the collar is no longer being tugged or quick-snapped.

We continue to work with our dog using this collar and thus far, he seems to be getting it. This is the only collar we use now. It's safe, humane (as opposed to a chain choke collar), and easy to use.

I discovered this collar when we adopted a retired Guide Dog. He was wearing one and I liked it so much I hunted one down for our other dog. I like that it's somewhat loose fitting so it seems comfortable, but then gives me a little leverage when I'm on a walk and my younger dog thinks he should pull. It's not a harsh correction and the design limits how much it tightens. He still practically ignores it, anyway (working on that), but it makes him think. The chain does not rust and this collar still looks great a year later. I even had another dog stay for 2 weeks that loved to wrestle with my puppy which involved a lot of grabbing each other's collars and the other dog's collar started to shred while my dog's looked untouched. Great product!

Was glad to find these on Amazon as my local pet stores no longer carry the extra small size. Ordered 2. The turquoise and the green. Both are striking colors, exactly as pictured. I've never seen this type collar in turquoise before, so I was sold on that color immediately. The quick release buckle is also something I'd never seen before and it's a great idea, esp for dogs that might be head shy. I've used this type collar on my dogs during walks for about 7 years or so, and for those who really want to WALK with the dog rather than a stop and sniff event that walking with a standard harness offers, this is what you want. All dogs are different of course, but it didn't take long for my dogs to figure out that when we used the martingale rather than the harness, it was time for a good exercising walk.

Easy on and off

I was very pleased with the quality of these collars. They should last the average lifespans of most dogs...and beyond. The chain is heavy and very sturdy, the colors are saturated and bright. Love the turquoise. I like that there is a clasp so I can adjust the collar to a size that won't easily slip over the head.

The only problem is lack of sizing information. I got the large for my three collies, 2 rough and 1 smooth, just by guessing. The collars for the big, hairy roughs were okay but the one for the short-haired smooth was ridiculously oversized. She's rather small boned and petite; it literally fell off of her. I've ordered her a medium but don't know if it'll fit. There desperately needs to be a size chart for this product. There are some specifications listed but have no idea what they mean. They don't relate to anything on the collar. If there was sizing information, this would be a 5-star product.
