Excellent for connecting into receiver
LogicLegitJanuary 27, 2018
These connectors are of good quality and deserving of their high amazon rating. They are easy to connect, feel secure and work well. I do have one thing to point out that I wish I would have been aware of prior to my purchase. The insertion portion of these plugs is long, longer than my other banana plugs. Now, this is excellent for insertion into my receiver. In fact, I think they are perfect for this side of the application. On the speaker side of the wire though I was not as thrilled with the extra length. This can create clearance issues as they stick out pretty far. This could also be a potential break point as the insertion plug is exposed and not encased in the speaker receptical. I added a picture to illustrate what I am talking about.

Anyways, I like the plugs and will use them for my receiver.
These are the best banana plugs I have used personally
Steve B.October 8, 2017
These are the best banana plugs I have used personally. I have also tried the Sewell Ocelot plugs.. Both have pros and cons, but I like these better due to ease of use. I still use the Ocelot plugs on some of my speakers that have an inclined connector, making them go upwards at about 45 degrees. I felt this would put too much strain on the wire of the connector, so I kept the Ocelot plugs on them instead, because I could have the wire coming out at a downward direction. However, for the rest of the connections on the other speakers, and the back of the receiver, the Deadbolt plugs are way easier, and much cleaner looking. It can't see how it could get much more simple to insert a wire and instantly secure it in place than these. The wire comes out the back of them and drapes much better than the Ocelot plugs did for my setup.

I did have a problem with the end of one of the red connectors being slightly too large to insert it into the receiver or speaker jack. I contacted Sewell support, and they asked for a photo, and proof of purchase. I sent those in, and they immediately sent me a replacement pair. I don't want to knock a star off even though the product had a small flaw, simply due to the excellent customer service I received in fixing the problem so painlessly.
The Sewell connector is very solid and makes a great connection into your banana binding posts

This is the third time I have order this product now. I was ready to give it 4 stars but bumped it up after going with some of their competitors. The Mediabridge connectors, which are slightly cheaper, have 1 difference not shown in any picture. Inside the connector the Sewell put a tapered hole that guides your speaker wire through without getting any of the strands hung up on the inside. The Mediabridge has a recessed hole with no taper and the stranded wire gets bound up inside the connector. This forces you spend extra time straightening out the wire and then fraying it out to finish the installation.

The Sewell connector is very solid and makes a great connection into your banana binding posts.
Worked great with my Audioquest (larger) cable

I bought these to re-do the ends of some Audioquest Crystal 2, speaker cables (about 15 years old). I got tired of screwing down tight on the spades at the back of the amplifier. I believed, correctly so, that having banana plugs would make life easier. I was right, and these were a great choice for me, as didn't want to deal with soldering the plugs onto the cable.
My biggest concern was the amount of wire that had to go into each of these bananas. the speaker cable has 6 negative and 6 positive wires, all of which of are 18 -21 gauge each. I wasn't sure they'd all fit into the screw enclosure within these plugs. They fit fine. The only issue, really, was the stiffness of the 6 wires that needed to be bent over the 'teeth' within the plugs. With minor help from some pliers, I was able to get the wires in, bent, and the plug screwed on. And clearly it was a tight fit, with good contact.

The ONLY reason this isn't a full five stars is that I'm wondering about the long-term tight fit that these will have inside the banana plug port on the back of the amp. They went in very snug when initially plugged in. I felt that, with just a couple of ins and outs, they'd loosened up a touch, and were not quite as snug. That is not to say the contact is bad. Everything sounds great. I'm just curious how snug the fit will be in the long run.

But, for the price, and the ease of installation (without solder), I think these are great.
Best on the market IMHO

When it comes to wiring and connections, people always go cheap and I don't know why. If you are putting the time and effort into a nice speaker system or home theater, why spend money on GOOD speakers and then go cheap on wiring and connections? I had used MonsterCable deadbolt banana plugs because of the easy-install design but they are terribly expensive, generally by about twice as much. On many A/V forums the questions come up about Monster audio vs. other brands and in nearly every forum I've visited, Sewell trumps the competition; and for good reason! You never lose connection, the wire is securely fastened in the connector, they are compact for close quarters behind a receiver (only adding about 1-1/2 inches with the wire bend), no cable strain - just all around a high quality product at an EXCELLENT price.
