I ordered two of these, one for me and one for my sister. When the two arrived, we noticed the two were actually not the same design. One of them had the design shown in the picture, and the other was less detailed dragon with a different flower design on the back. The concept was the same, but it wasn't the one shown in the picture. For the price, it didn't really matter much to us. It was kind of cool for them to be slightly different anyway, because having the same exact one could have gotten confusing. The quality was really decent for what I paid. It doesn't feel like modern craftsmanship, which I liked. The journal is bound just by thin leather strips, and that gave it a Victorian feel. The pages have little bits of what I believe to be plant material, which I also enjoyed. I would purchase from this brand again, even knowing the design might not be the same. If you are looking for something modern, clean, and you care about getting exactly what you ordered, this product might not be for you. But if you're just looking for a cheap and beautiful journal, I would definitely recommend this product.

I have tested the out with several Fountain Pens: Jinhao 250( stock nib ), Jinhao x450 (stated as medium nib), Pilot Metropolitan ( fine nib), FPR Himalaya ( EF nib ). All pens did write however based on the type of paper I would stick to medium to broader nib sizes. I like the Jinhao x450 #6 nib vs the smaller #5 from the Jinhao 250... I would stay away from the finer and sharper nibs in my opinion... Ghosting/Bleeding and Feathering... A lot will depend on ink choice and nib choice as well as how fast and smooth you write... As well as how picky you are about paper... I can not afford to be that picky... I have no issues writing on one side and using a backing page...

I knew this would on the smaller size from reading reviews, and it was. It also had a very faint image of the dragons on the front, which had also been stated; but you don't know just HOW faint until you see it. It was faint enough that you had to tilt it and make sure to look at it in good lighting to see it well. There is a design on the back that is actually an embossed (raised up) design; too bad the dragons aren't done the same way. They are clearly just sort of stamped onto the faux leather; the images in the ad are totally false as it's NO WHERE near that clear, or visible, and not raised up at all. Having said that, the book is still cool, giving the effect of an ancient tome sort of thing, with the paper being thick and hand made looking (it's not); and the pages having that 'sewn in' look. I gave this to a 15 y/o girl and I think she still was pleased with it.

Got this for my daughter. Just like most of the negative reviews here, I was disappointed with the quality. The dragon image is nothing like what is pictured. What is advertised is an embossed dragon image raised against the background. What I received was cheap. debossed, sunken relief outline of seahorses...but not even deep enough to protrude the cheap leather on the reverse. The color was not as rich as advertised. I ended up re-staining it with black stamp ink. I'm glad my daughter loves me.

Two stars because the pages seem secure and the book itself seems well built. HOWEVER, I ordered the one with the dragons on it and the one I received does not look like the dragons in the picture at all other than they are relatively in the same position. Yes I only paid 8 dollars for it but I do expect items to look like the pictures that were posted in the description. Extremely disappointed.
