I purchased a 600 series chainsaw with a 36 inch bar from Stihl to mill logs out of a large pine tree I felled in the back yard. All this by way of saying I wouldn't even consider firing up a monster saw like that without some sort of protection and these chaps are my suit of armor. I have yet to wear them because due to a recent design change, my 600 series chainsaw wouldn't fit the sawmill...sigh...ain't that a crock?
My John Deere company has traded the huge saw for a more usable version; even so, I won't go near it without the chaps and helmet and gloves (and neither should you!) The sawmill company is supposed to be sending some return labels but so far, well...still waiting.
