Delicious Southern style

I found this delicious treat at Dollar Tree. I was intrigued so went on line and discovered that the Margaret Holmes brand is part of the McCalls Farm group, specializing in Southern style canned foods. "In the early 1930s, Ed Holmes began canning white acre peas and squash; now the brand includes a wide variety of Southern-style fruits and vegetables."
This is not the thick style my mother and grandmother made. Instead, it is almost a thick soup. It is good as is but was better when I drained a can of beans and made a quick succotash. It would make a good starter for a variety of other dishes including gumbo. Well seasoned out of the can, I like a little more salt and spice so added a little Tony's All Purpose Creole Seasoning. Delicious. It was good enough that I am going to try other products from this company.
