Poor workmanship. Grout/sealant between chessboard and wood edge was crumbled and falling out when it arrived. I returned it for a refund. Sorry it didn't work out.
Fun Set (Middle of the Road Quality)

I would rate this as a middle of the road chess set. The pieces are stone but are not heavy and seem somewhat fragile. However, they are unique and fun to play with. The board is solid enough. My family has enjoyed it for a while now and I would buy it again for the price ($35).

This is a really nice little chess board and a bit bigger then I had originally thought. The pieces do not have any velvet or protection on the bottom, but they do not appear to pose a risk of cracking or breaking the board or each other. There is a silk lining inside of the box above the pieces and velvet lining underneath which keeps them in place for the most part. I did find that with a lot of moving the box around some of the pieces will shift a bit inside. The pieces are solid though and I am not worried about damage. If I had one complaint it would be the very odd way the knights look. It is almost as if they did not completely cut the form out of the stone. However, it works very well, is light enough for travel, but sturdy enough to withstand consistent usage. A good buy.
