Broke TWICE, bad design
Kim✓ Verified Purchase•May 25, 2018
Initially when my husband installed this the bottom piece broke right away. I contacted customer service because the return window had closed. He was very nice and sent a replacement. This one broke also within a couple of weeks. I don't know if they will send another or not. Overall this product is very smooth and it works. But when you need to hold the door open, the plastic piece isn't made to go in the closed direction, so this breaks it. That's it! When you can't remenber that or you have kids around, it's hard NOT to break it. It's not really a well thought out design in my opinion.

I struggled for years with a standard Big Box store screen closer before I upgraded to this dual closer and man what a world of difference... this thing works great. A smooth consistent close every time and no need to make any adjustment so far after about 6 months of use. With the previous cheapo I had to adjust it constantly.
Touch and Hold works great!!

The closers work great and can be used with current door hanging brackets. They worked very well out of the box with no adjustments needed. My only negative is the hanging brackets included with the closers. They are made of an ABS plastic which will not last very long. Feel very cheap and flimsy.
In summary the closers 5/5 Stars, the hanging brackets 2/5 stars.

These are so much better!

This set that I ordered cost me the same as one piston. If you have a door with two pistons, buy and replace both pistons at the same time. There was no need to unscrew anything these fit into place on my current hardware.
This set is a newer system that closes the door in one smooth sweep, rather than stopping the door partway, bouncing, then easing it closed with a controlled slam.
They work so much better that I'd recommend replacing your old pistons even if they are still working.

Warning for Lanai owners

I installed a new door brush and the door would not shut without assistance. So I though I could add a closer at the bottom (mine was mounted in the middle) and it might help. I have a lanai and it did not mention on Amazon that I needed special brackets for a lanai door. So I went through gold star and bought the bracket (they were plastic). The new bracket did not come with screws and the screw provided with the original holders would have gone completely through the frame. So I went to HD to get some screws and paint because there were not any stainless #10 bronze screws to buy. So I installed it, and the door still did not close without assistance. I flipped the slam adjuster over and moved my existing closer over to create more pressure. I was able to, with much effort and multiple shopping efforts, get the door to slam close and actually shut - it ended up being a multiple weekend project waiting on the right parts though.
