Finally, a life vest that fits my 13lb kleinspitz!!
James Lummel✓ Verified Purchase•August 30, 2017
Got this in today and tried it on my dog, Asia, who is a 13lb kleinspitz (which is an oversized Pomeranian, FWIW). This is the 4th doggy life vest I've tried and I've finally found one that fits!!
The usual problem is that the spitz breed dogs derive from the wolfspitz family and typically are slim in the stomach area and have broad chests and thick necks that taper from where it attaches to the body, and the vests I've tried fit either the chest or neck but rarely both. The small sized version of this vest is well designed and allows for a lot of latitude in these key areas, yet adjusts snug enough to work. I've attached a few of photos showing the fit, including one that shows her body profile without the vest.
While I really wanted to get her a neoprene vest, I'm happy with this one and find some comfort that it includes extra flotation for the head under her chin. I also like that the color makes her highly visible in the water even from further away.
If things change I'll update this review and the rating, but for now I'm giving it 5 stars!

Fits good on my 2 doxies. I ordered 2 smalls one for my female mini doxie who is neck 10in chest 19in and my male tweny size neck is 11in and chest 17.5in and they both weight 15pounds. My male is longer and it's a bit tight around his neck but you are able to adjust it which is a good thing. I'll have to test it to see if it fits good on him when he goes swimming the chest areas fits good on him just worried about the neck. I'm thinking I should of gotten a medium for him but will see how it works I'll post an update later. Quality of the product looks great and not bad for $12 I was going to spend $29-39 for one for the same vest at pet smart glad I didn't.
Cute!

My dog is a TERRIBLE swimmer, but loves to splash in the water. He is also kind of farsighted as well as being a big, kinda dumb 10 month old St. Bernard. So I prefer to have him in a life jacket around water that comes up above his chest. It fits him pretty well and I really like the high visibility of it. The two handles are nice for snacking him out of the water a d dragging him away from the lake when it's time to go home. He's currently about 115 pounds and I'm honestly not sure how well it would actually keep him afloat if he were to fall in-house it's made of a kind of Styrofoam-y material. But it's super cute and works well for what we need.
Perfect for my MinPin
Belle✓ Verified Purchase•January 20, 2017
My dog is a MinPin, approximately 7 1/2 pounds. Because she is a small dog, she jumps a lot - also, before I adopted her, she was in an abusive situation. Either due to the abuse or the constant jumping, or both, Bella developed disc disease.
After researching and talking to several vets, I decided to do acupuncture and cold laser therapy for Bella. Four sessions layer, she was feeling better then she had in years! However I knew her disease would cause pain again unless managed, so I enrolled Bella in hydrotherapy with a licensed professional. I bought this life jacket (size XS which was recommended for dogs 10 pounds and under)for the hydrotherapy.
It is working GREAT. It fits her very well although I adjusted the buckles slightly. The chin support that helps keep her head up is comforting to both her and her mommy. It was super easy to lift her with the handle on top, and after comparing this life jacket to the ones my hydrotherapist had available, I was very satisfied and grateful to have made this purchase.
If your dog is outdoors, you won't miss this color (mine is Orange)! Very vibrant! All in all, for the price, I was more then satisfied with this life jacket and would definitely recommend to others.

Great fit, can enjoy the water knowing she's protected!

Two Pictures Attached!
I bought this size *LARGE* for our 7 year old female pit-boxer mix who runs a pretty consistent 46 pounds. She measures 19" from neck to tail, 19" around her neck and 27" around her chest. I had these measurements from the purchase of a Hurtta winter coat for her. She's definitely not designed for cold weather! :-)
- This LARGE is a perfect fit for the dog, whose measurements are detailed above.
- There are 3 fairly standard buckles, which you can actually see in the product photo. You adjust the straps to fit and the male part of the buckle clips into the female part. You squeeze the two "springy" side of the male part to release.
- You can put the life jacket on the dog while still leashed, an important feature when getting ready to go onto the water from a boat launch or other public area.
- The jacket is very easy to secure on the dog. I don't THINK that the order you buckle the two parts is relevant. You basically lay it on their back like a horse saddle. (I know all about this kind of thing from having watched all the John Wayne movies.) So, lay it on their back and wrap the chest piece, grey in the product photo, snugly around and up to the other side where there is Velcro to hold in in place. Then, insert the two buckles.
I like the wrap-around piece because not only is it somewhat elastic to provide a secure fit, but the velcro helps hold it in place while you buckle it AND it protects the dogs from straps going around their chest to prevent sore spots from rubbing, etc.
- Next, you secure what I'd guess you call the throat piece. This piece goes sort of under the dog's chin, is held in place with velcro also, and then you buckle it in. There is also a flap thing to help the dog keep their chin / head out of the water.
- Once the dog is in the jacket, it's quite firmly fixed. I picked her up easily with the two grip straps on top and carried her about 20 feet back and forth on the lawn. Between the wrap-around chest piece, velcro and the buckled straps, there's no getting out of that jacket that I can see.
- Our dog enjoys playing in the water at standing depth, she's now a swimmer. To test flotation, I went with her about to my chest and let her go. I tried to encourage her to swim around, but she headed straight for shore. I didn't get as good a flotation test as I would have liked, but I brought her out 4 times and it all worked great in that way.
- In hindsight, I wish that I bought the Clownfish design. Our 8 year old grandson is really into fish, the Nemo movies, etc., and I think he would have loved seeing our dog in that outfit.
I'd absolutely buy this again and love the great price.
