We bought this to replace an old, 1984, Valley Shower Trim Kit. It's not what it says. The face plate is much more shallow than the original so the screws don't reach the internal bracket. And you have to turn it upside down as the screws should be on the top, not bottom. So it says C on the left and H on the right and they are upside down, will keep our guests guessing when they use the shower. The bonnet is too shallow as well and without modification, it does not push the cartridge in far enuf for the handle to work properly. Our plumber took the washer out of the old bonnet and put it into this new one along with the one provided, doubling its depth in order to seat it properly and get the handle to work. I tried to get the proper length screws from Lasco, the distributor, but they said go away, leave us alone, can't help you.
I know we buy this so we don't have redo our shower tile, and with lots of work and modification it can work, but really, the design is terrible and it should be off the market or redesigned.

This kit only fits the 1993 or older valve. Mine was newer and the parts do not work. Need to clarify the description.

I ordered these to refurbish a customer's new style Valley bath valves and ended up having to return them. These have the handle of the new style, but they actually fit the old style original Valley models. LASCO has literally modified new style handles to fit the old VA-1 cartridge. These are a total fake out. The escutcheons and tube are for the old valve as well. As a Plumber I think this is a horrible idea as the handle style is the only outward clue as to which model a Valley bath valve is. These will cause confusion and mistaken assumptions from now on. Bad idea!
FYI "New Style" is the later cartridge with the seats and springs built in. It has a handle button and the Phillips head screw is in the center of the handle. "Old Style" is the original white nylon cartridge with the separate seats and long springs and it uses an Allen set screw on the under side of the handle.
I hope this helps someone else avoid dealing with this hassle...

I would not recommend this product to anyone trying to replace their Valley trim. The threads on the bonnet nut do not match the male part of the original unit and will not seat properly and results in failure to set the valve in place properly thereby ending in full blown leak!!!! Also, the design of the escutcheon plate is not the same as the original - the slope is much less than the original and so the screws are not long enough. Cannot use them at all. Also, my Valley trim has the holes on the top not the bottom. So the C & H end up reversed. Jeers to the manufacturer for such a poor replacement item! DO NOT BUY THIS! DO NOT BUY THIS! DO NOT BUY THIS!
