Stable and plenty of storage

I wanted to upgrade from my Intex inflatable 2-person kayak, which introduced me to the great joy of kayaking. I love the Intex but always say in a puddle of water and it was a pain to inflate and deflate. The Sun dolphin was a great choice for me! I'm 5'7 and 240 lbs and this kayak was super stable, easy to maneuver on the water, and I can lift it and get it tied down on top of my car by myself. I tested it out on a nearby lake yesterday and absolutely can not wait to take it out again!
Five Stars

This is the perfect kayak for my purposes. It's not the fastest or best tracking but for small blackwater rivers it is perfect. It is very easy to turn. It actually turns itself once the turn is initiated. In fact you have to actively paddle to keep it on track or it will initiate a turn on it's own. It is very light and gets up to speed quickly. It has a "sweet spot" for speed which I estimate to be about 3 mph where paddling is almost effortless and it glides well at that speed until it starts to initiate a turn. To go faster requires a lot more effort. The flat bottom gives it great stability for tipping. It's easy for an old codger like me, 78 years old, to get in and out compared to a sit-inside. I'll be using it on lakes and flat water rivers and may even take it out in the surf.
Only downside is that having no side handle it's near impossible for one person to carry it. Easily fixed to add a carry handle or just use a small cart. Well also that at just under 6' tall I had the foot rests extended full out. Taller paddler might have a problem with that. It may be possible to move the whole assembly further out, I don't know.
After only one trip out in it for one hour of paddling it appears to be very durable and well made. My guess is that it is faster and better tracking than the 10' version.

Also the seat is very minimal and simple yet is surprisingly comfortable. Seat back is adjustable. My butt stayed dry after one hour of paddling on a
lake.

It can also be used for fishing since it has two rod holders, but I gave up fishing for beer drinking.
Nice Kayak. So-so quality.

Good kayak. Not quite as stable as I was hoping for, but it does the job. The build quality is up in the air still. I have a feeling there will be a piece or two broken off in the not-too-distant future. Pretty big, so plenty of room. Seat needs a higher seat back with more support, though. After a few hours of paddling, my back was really killing me.
Not expensive, very stable, nice fittings, good design, FUN.

Very nice for cruising Mohegan Lake. The 12' is a very stable flat bottom design, i am 200lbs and can neal or even stand in it. I have jumped off and can easily climb back in. Nice fittings although some were damaged in shipping A few stainless screws fixed all. No need for plugs as it stays dry. Takes more effort than my Old Towne but tracks quite well. Mine came with an OK paddle. I really like the space upfront for a jacket, towels, pets. , etc. Nice bungee tie downs. The cockpit dry store is a long reach, you have to kneel to get into it. There is a rod holder and small table between your legs which is nice for small items. Two rod holders right behind the cockpit. The seat is quite nice it's adjustable and stays dry. The rear dry store is large and removable, makes a good coolers too.
I really like this kayak and recommend it for families, fisherman, and water fun.
