These Key-Bak units are the very best! But BEWARE, as often on Amazon (and other online sites) the Descriptions are often wrong. I bought this unit because it said "attaches using an innovative belt clip that can be converted to a belt loop with the provided pin". WRONG! It has a loop very solidly attached but there was no clip or pin. I returned for the other model that has the clip, because I don't always wear a belt since I've lost some weight (no butt to hold pants up anymore!). When I wear suspenders I need the clip. Rec'd the clip version and it's great! VERY strong clip. also, MADE IN THE USE!!! MAGA!

So, here's the deal. It didn't work out for what I ordered it for, but that doesn't mean I can hold that against the product. It's built like a tank. If you're expecting a smaller retractable keychain, this isn't the one for you. This thing is giant. It could easily hold a full keyring and then some. The retraction is heavy, and the ring has a clip that holds it in the closed position so the keys don't just unwind whenever they feel like it.

(TLDR: the cord came off when I lightly pulled on it. Not recommended for even non- professional use. Will update if repaired.

I am a building access control technician, electronic security specialist, and locksmith at a state university. Needless to say, I wear many hats, and I have many keys. I purchased this product thinking it would be the perfect way to manage my keys. I ordered the unit with a leather belt loop and the heaviest duty model so i could be sure my keys could not be snatched off my belt.

When I received the unit, I lightly tested it to be sure it was a fairly quality product. I pulled the Kevlar cord to the end of its travel and gave it a short pull (no more than 10lbs of force) ,and to my dismay the cord pulled free of the housing rendering the product useless. Upon further inspection, i discovered that only a single overhand knot secured to cord to the unit. It was obvious they had a hole drilled into the retraction wheel, and they knotted the cord in it in an attempt to keep the cord from being pulled free.

If I had lost my keys due to this issue, it could have costed my university $3 million dollars to make our campus secure again. I am going to attempt to repair it, will update if successful. As of now, I can not recommend this product in good conscience.

I am frustrated with products like this. Make a quality product users can trust, or don't make products at all. You will find the time you spend on quality control well earn your business far more than it will cost.

I use this to hold my key card for work. My original card flew off me somewhere on the highway on my motorcycle. This reel has a really nice locking feature and a very strong cable, which make it nearly impossible my card to get away from me. I would recommend purchasing some small carabiners, since the keyring is quite large. I bought these work great: D-FantiX Mini Titanium Carabiner, D-ring Locking Carabiner Keychain with Key Rings Edc Gear ( Pack of 5). The only negative (and it's a small one) with this product is how bulky it is.

seems to be of good quality. a little bigger than i expected. biggest thing i realized is that this is for right hand use. I didn't want to put it on the same side of my duty belt as my gun, i wanted to put it on the left side but the way it slides out doesn't really make that feasible. My suggestion would be to make a right and left side version with opposite slide out openings for the string.
