Easy to install

Well I can't tell if this works or not because my house hasn't been hit by lightning but it is a very easy install. Seriously this is cheap protection for your electronics. If you have ever installed a circuit breaker or done any work around a load center, this is a piece of cake to install.
Easy to install and made in USA

Took about 10 min to relocate 2 existing breakers and install this surge protector to the GE load center. Excellent product quality.
I had an Eaton product installed (different house) before and this is much superior than the Eaton product

A. Fairly inexpensive first line of defense

Fairly easy to install , but I had to move four thin line breakers down in order to free up slots nearest the neutral conductor lug. It has a short lead to attach to neutral ,but that is intentional as you want the shortest path possible to shunt off surges. Installing breakers in this panel requires lining up a tab on the panel to a recess on the breaker. Being careful to do that the breaker snaps in easily. I have one of these type breakers on my Square D panel for several years and they do seem to protect based on power outages we have had in that time. Note that this meets UL code 1449 Third Edition. There are still second edition versions for sale out there about 20 dollars cheaper. Note you still need surge strips or , better yet, surge receptacles for electronics like TVs. This breaker helps protect your dishwasher, clothes washer etc.i.e. Those items less sensitive to surges.
Review for GE THQLSURGE SURGEPRO

This review is for the GE branded THQLSURGE SURGEPRO. So far so good.
Installed as SPD type 2 in service sub-panel located inside garage. It takes same amount of space as 4 single pole breakers would take. I'm the homeowner, not an electrician. The only wire is white, 10 AWG, which I shortened to around 6 inches and connected to the neutral bussbar. The green LED isn't super bright but that's fine as this panel is indoors. It runs ever so slightly lukewarm, I reckon that's fine too.
I elected to not move all the other breakers down. Instructions do say the nearer to the incoming main lug the better, but hey! It's better than many Type 2 SPDs, which may be wired in, rather than on the incoming main panel bus.
While I had the panel open, I tightened all the electrical connection screws and I'm glad, because 3 weren't really tight enough.

Exact fit, piece of mind!

Decided to go with breaker mounted surge protection vs a meter mounted that the utility installs and you pay monthly for or a externally mounted (from the panel). I liked the streamline look of this unit. I bought 2 because I have 2 main GE panels. Easy install as they pop right in like a double pole breaker. Mounted just below my main on each panel.
