Way too big for just sticking it on top of a post... it looks awkward and needs some design under it. If you need this much space for envelopes, okay. You're mail carrier isn't going to be fitting the packages through the slot that this thing would otherwise hold if the slot wasn't as narrow as it is. Unfortunately, I'll end up returning it as it's just way, way to big for my application, but it's worth buying if you need a thick metal mailbox (which is what I was going for in the first place instead of the cheap easy dent/bend mailboxes).

I live in the suburbs and for many years we thought it was a safe community but not anymore. With people stealing my mail (and checks), it was time to upgrade to a secured mailbox. This one has many time reviews so I bought it to try out.

Took a bit of time trying to line up the pre-drilled holes of the box to the existing wood platform of the box but once the box is secured, it's very sturdy.

Now we don't have to worry and rush out to the mailbox to get the mail with the fear of someone stealing it,

Bought the matching post. Dug a hole. Used Quikcrete. It was so easy!!! Has held up wonderfully for 3 years now. Is just the right size for mail and many package deliveries, even handbooks. Have recommended them to everyone in our neighborhood, which resulted in deterring mail pirates. We're in a cul-de-sac. The drop in outsider "cruisers" is significant.

More and more, no matter what neighborhood you live in, it seems mail theft is a risk. My mail comes at 3:45pm every day. There have been increasing problems with homeless in my area and sometimes "sketchy" individuals wandering around. On days that I knew I would not make it home until the evening, I was becoming increasingly anxious knowing my mail (often containing checks) would be just sitting there for HOURS, unprotected, until I got home. This mailbox has eliminated that anxiety for me. If I know through USPS Informed Delivery that there are multiple checks from clients coming that day, I no longer have to make sure I'm home around that time, or worry about working late that night and finding my mail stolen. The mailbox itself is very solid. I already had a pole set up with a little platform for a standard, cheap Home Depot unlocking mailbox, so swapping them out was simple. I also paid $7 extra and ordered the little rubberized cover for the lock to protect it from moisture and grit.

It comes with three keys. I put one on my keychain with my car keys until I realized the problem. My mailbox is at the bottom of the driveway. To get my mail, I had to turn off my car so I could remove the keys to get my mail. I know keep one of the keys on a little tiny key tag in the center console so I don't have to turn off the engine as I retrieve my mail. Bottom line is this mailbox is not cheap, but I am so glad I did it. It also looks really nice.

I was surprised at how heavy duty it was for the price. The build quality is great. This thing is going to outlast me! Lol.
