Tasty Gluten Free Sourdough

Haven't had sourdough in decades! This was good for gluten free. Toasted pre-sliced pieces and they didn't crumble and fall apart. Also used for open faced sandwich. Price causes me to save purchase for special treat. So good!
Quality gluten free bread

I have tried quite a few gluten free breads. BUT! I totally miss sourdough. It's a thing for some of us to crave sour things.
I've only tried 2 "sourdough " gluten free brands and one actually tasted a bit like sourdough.
New Grains is a tasty quality bread, but it's not sourdough. No sour taste at all. The other brand that tastes sour is $10 a small loaf at Whole Foods. ( I'd buy that in bulk to get a discount. )

New Grains is very moist and unless you eat 2 loaves in a week, freeze one.
They say 3 weeks in fridge, but I wouldn't trust that. Mine developed pink spots within 10 days in the fridge. I contacted the company, but it's not an ingredient, and they said it was nearing the end of it's lifespan. So 10 days tops in the fridge.
So, good bread, but beware of it going bad. Maybe keep it constantly in the freezer...to protect your $25 bread investment.
I don't know about you, but I can't afford to throw that out...
Great taste

Have tried other other brands that did not even come close to real sourdough. I will continue to buy this one.
Almost Perfect

This is outstanding bread. It's actually the only gluten-free bread I know of that is also sourdough, so that's a great thing.

With that said, however, what I think it needs is either a little more sourdough culture or more fermenting time to make it a bit tangier, and also maybe a bit more non-gluten glueing agent to make it a bit lighter. If you've ever had the sourdough breads from Fresh Market, that should be the target standard of taste and texture. The gluten-free company Canyon Bakehouse has really perfected gluten-free bread, though to my knowledge they haven't attempted a gluten-free sourdough, as New Grains has. But their gluten-free texture is actually the best of all the gluten-free breads I've tried.

So if New Grains can achieve the cross between Canyon Bakehouse and Fresh Market's sourdough, they will have utterly nailed it completely. But as it stands now, their bread is extremely solidly, almost there, and still definitely worth buying in bulk.
Great tasting and gluten free

I first tried this bread about a year ago and enjoy it on lite breakfast mornings as toast. This bread tastes great! It is hard to find gluten free options with this kind of taste. It goes well with Butter and Jelly as well as Nutella. Like most gluten free breads, this one is fairly dense and doesn't function well for sandwiches in my opinion. That's because the density overpowers the meat, cheese, and condiment flavors instead of complementing them. My only complaint about the bread is the way it is shipped. I received all my orders in a small square flat rate shipping box where the bread is slightly bigger than the box. The result is a round loaf being pressed diagonally into a smaller square space so a portion of the loaf has the shape deformed. This was especially bad when I ordered two loafs to try and save on shipping. The real issue with the deformed loaf is pulling off a few slices at a time once I freeze the loaf. Bread molds very quickly where I live so I tend to freeze it right after I open it. All in all not a bad product, but I wish they would figure out a better boxing/shipping method.
