Nice meter, no backlight
EJen•July 15, 2016
This is a nice meter, it is easy to use with a lot of functions. This meter is relatively thin and has a nice rubber case. The case has a pull out stand to support the meter at an angle for better viewing. This meter has an auto shut off it beeps twice before it shuts down. The screen is clear and is easily viewable at most angles.
I absolutely love the case, it has a removable, adjustable strap that holds the meter in the case. It has a spot for the manual, and a good amount of room for the included accessories.
I have a few minor issues with this meter:
*This meter does not have a backlight, which I find very odd for a meter of this price.
*The meter needs to be taken apart to change the battery which I think is a poor design.
*The leads for this meter are not great, they could be longer and better quality.
*The included thermocouple is different from the one in the picture, it simply has 2 banana connectors.
Overall I am happy with this meter although I really wish it had a backlight.

If you want a really good quality meter for the same price buy the ESI ...

Fair, but nothing professional about this meter. The name on this product from this company sounds professional ,but it is not.It is thin in design the test leads are as cheap as can be i know they will bend when you go to put some serious pressure on them. The battery is cheap, and just sits in the rear half no battery compartnent for secureness. The screws are of the self tapping kind and no brass threaded inserts that show quality. As the the other reviewer had said the inductive pick up is of the weak plastic type.If you want a really good quality meter for the same price buy the ESI 585K DELUXE METER FROM ELECTRNONIC SPECIALTIES SOLD ON AMAZON. I also have that meter Now thats a quality meter with the same accessories, but with higher quailty. It is a very robust meter that has weight and thickness to it which represents quality for a decent price. The ESI company seems produce QUALITY products from my recent purchases from them.
Needs a metal induction clamp
BRENT P.•March 28, 2015
So far, I have only two complaints about the product.
1) it arrived with the head missing from the temp probe. I contemplated sending it back but I didn't need the temp probe initially and did need the RPM function --which brings me to--
2) the induction clamp for testing RPM is a thin plastic that deforms in proximity to the exhaust manifold (not touching, just near). Once it deforms, it no longer clamps and, once it no longer clamped, it slid down and contacted the exhaust manifold, and melted.
