Are these people trying to use it INSTEAD of a wood fire? It's not a fire, it's a fire STARTER. It's not supposed to keep your stove burning all by itself, although it does say it will in the Amazon marketing. It's only to be used to generate enough heat to make sure your wood catches fire, solving the problem of trying to get wood to catch in inclement weather. It's for lifesaving ability to catch damp or snowy wood in bad conditions, where you ordinarily can't get the wood to light. It's an attempt to address these problems that can affect survival. It's not supposed to replace a normal fire. You still have to properly build a fire, using this, with its high temperatures, to heat/dry the wood to the point where it catches fire. I really think people are trying to use this as if it were the fire itself. A miscommunication and a problem statement in the Amazon claims about it lead to this misunderstanding.

Great product. You do need to try a couple of times to get the hang of how much to use based on your burning material and conditions but it lights immediately and keeps the flame going long enough for kindling and wood to get s good light.

Additional 5 stars for customer service. I received a notification about delivery completed but it didn't arrive at my home. I checked the address to make sure it wasn't my error. I emailed customer service who promptly replied and I received a thousand shipment 2days later. YOU GUYS WERE GREAT! You have a repeat customer in me.

I love this product to help start camp fires. I originally bought a pack of this stuff outside Zion NP in Utah, and it worked so well, I bought a bunch of packs when I saw it on Amazon. I had some stubborn wood that did not want to stay lit when starting it the usual way of using some balled up paper and/or small little kindling sticks, so a little pile of this and the fire's started up every time. Never had a campfire that wouldn't stay lit before, so this stuff came in handy.

Saw this on Shark Tank and been meaning to try it. Finally bought it on Amazon and took it camping. I used it to start my camp fire. After strategically stacking my wood , I normally tried to start my fire with paper or a lit coal underneath the wood. This usually worked but took time. And when it was windy, forget about it!

Enter InstaFire. I opened up a packet and was intrigued by the grey colored sand within. I poured a small pile below my wood structure and lit it. Instantly a fire started and stayed constant for about 10 mins, easily getting my wood fire again. No paper or charcoal required. And no mess.

This is awesome! I would use I again.

I tried one of these in a heavy rain and the product caught fire and burned in the rain, my absolutely soaked kindling had a hard time starting but caught eventually. So I say it works as promised and I will keep some in my emergency supplies.
