I was shopping for a replacement for my neoprene Gator brand mask when I stumbled over this slice of awesome. It's not for everybody, but if you look at inclement weather as a game and enjoy amusing yourself and others in the process, you simply have to have one of these. I'm not sure any article of clothing I've purchased has made me chuckle quite this much.

The quality is very good and it keeps you very warm. This morning's -2F wind chill... no problem at all. The mask quality itself is better and this design is far more comfortable to wear than the all neoprene Gator it replaced for me.

One thing I'll mention is that the beard doesn't seem quite as large as what's in the current product picture. The length is about 11" and it's about 9" wide on the one I received. This is good news as the one pictured is a bit... too much beard.

The looks you get walking to a white collar job in a downtown metropolitan city with this thing ... is worth the price of admission. Enjoy!

It is a funny cool product, quality made, the beard is attached to a separate layer of fabric - so the hairs do not touch your face and do not annoy. I liked the product and look forward to try it on the slope. Though I must admit it looks much more big (and more furry) on the picture on amazon that it is in reality - I guess it was put on a kid as it looks like a Yeti on the picture - on me it looks like a regular long beard could covering lips, chin and neck (and not as long as almost to belly button on the picture).

Update after a couple of seasons' use.
1) It is relvatively hot to ski, so the only time I could use it when it was snowing with wind - great use in cold conditions and very warm, though;
2) It straps behind your head on top, so if you are using helmet, it could be a bit inconvenient to wear - you would have to either pull the strap lower than helmet, or adjust helmet strap;
3) It covers nose, so if you are using goggles it could put some additional pressure on your nose - nothing major, though, but noticeable;
4) In goggles, your breath through the beard is likely to cause fogging - could be avoided by trimming top hairs with scissors;
Overall - good warm product for bad weather conditions, indispensible in snow and wind and looks super fun!

Up front - I did not purchase this for skiing, I purchased it to complete a running costume. The Santa beard was sold out, so I went with this one, for more of a grizzled santa look.

During use it can help to breathe in the mouth and out the nose, to avoid moisture buildup in the mouth area - this can also help to avoid breathing in the beard fibers into your nose. I also had to snip the nose hole a bit bigger for my large nose to properly fit the mask. Something to keep in mind, is that it completely covers your nose - it's hard to see in the pictures, and probably doesn't matter with a pair of ski goggles, but with a pair of sunglasses it looks "less real".

It will definitely keep your face warm in cold weather, and if you're running in it, will make your face sweat.

Results from spectators were mostly positive - yielding "yeti", "chewbacca", "santa", "i'm terrified of that", and plenty of laughing.

Used it on Sugarloaf and the skiing experience was different! I just loved this! With helmet and goggles, your face just disappears. I had to start talking to someone I knew because I was looking at them from 3feet away and she couldn't recognize who I was!
I did scare a little kid which was giggling and fooling around but once he noticed me he froze. Walked back to his dad and held his leg for dear life as I was approaching!
All my friends loved it! It does the job of keeping you warm too. Mindful of all people that already have a beard - like I do - that this does fit fine, but I suspect that it would be even better for shaved faces. I didn't have a problem though.
Go for it - it is a great product!!
...yeah, the price sucks, I'd wanted it cheaper too, but you get what you pay for.

It's novel and definitely makes you easier to find. I went with this color because it seemed more lush than the others. I was not disappointed on receiving it.

There were some negatives and I almost gave it 3 stars. It's not neoprene so the wind on a lift cuts right through it. For lifts, when wearing a buff or fleece face cover, i can stick my lower face behind the jacket top to cut the wind. The beard prevents that. In the other end, at the bottom of the lift it's really hot and it's hard to dump heat quickly. In terms of using a camelbak, I have made splits in neoprene balaclavas. I did the same with the mouth opening. However, w/ all the hair, it was too hard to find where to slip the nozzle in.
