It’s dangerous...but it has to be!

So far, both I and my trees are alive!
I'm treating ash trees for emerald ash borers. They are in my area but no signs on my trees.
You'd be wise to read the warnings and instructions twice... and FOLLOW THEM! This is not your garden-variety Raid bug spray. This is a serious A-kickin' insecticide!
Apply after the trees drop their flowers or you may kill ANY insect that visits (think honey bees [although they're not actually native {African}]).
Good luck! Don't poison yourself or your family!

I use it on various Palms throughout my yard - they are healthy and vibrant and put out new fronds several times a year. The one Mediterranean Palm that got hard scale when I skipped this treatment last year has cleared up within 6 weeks completely, with results starting within 10 days. I combine this with PalmGain Palm Fertilizer, available on Amazon, which is supposed to help the "uptake" besides giving micro-nutrients for the Palms.
I do a spreadsheet with the height and width of each individual plant to calculate by Palm the required amount following their product instructions for the proper amount - using the mid-point of the recommendation for in-ground plants. My wife uses her kitchen scale, covered in plastic, to measure the amount of grams by Palm then dissolves that correct amount in several gallons of water that I carefully pour around each Palm. Measuring for one plant at a time. Wear gloves and take your time. The "soil drench" method gives the longest lasting protection I think and is the easiest to treat rather than spray.
Right before pouring I distribute the dry PalmGain around the Palm and slightly rough up the soil to settle it in - then I pour the dissolved systemic. Again, I use the spreadsheet to calculate the right amount of PalmGain by Palm size.
In our area Palm pests are becoming more of a problem due to rarer winter freezes than years ago - while this seems expensive what would it cost to replace and regrow Palms that are large?
A neighbor who tried using the local yard company to rescue his damaged Palms only got a generic spray treatment that did not work and he is in danger of losing his landscaping now.

Savior For Old-Growth Hemlock

This is probably the best product out there to save our largest hemlock trees from the woolly adelgid. Many of the really big, infested old growth hemlock don't respond fast enough with either imidacloprid or bio-controls. This is much faster working than imidacloprid and more effective. It also helps eliminate some of the other pests which weaken the hemlock such as elongate hemlock scale and spider mites which imidacloprid does not. Many of the largest specimens of eastern hemlock have been saved with Safari. Used according to directions on hemlock using soil, root, trunk spray or even trunk injection, it will not affect bees. Until we develop and release more bio-control beetles and fungi, Safari is an important tool in the fight to save the eastern hemlock from extinction.
Does the job.
