Spectre air filter for 1998 Mustang GT...Doesn't fit, it's too big for the airbox.

I purchased the air filter a few months ago. I figured it was easier to purchase then and have it when I'm ready to install. I finally decided it was time to remove my old air filter and install the new Spectre air filter. The item looks nice, very similar to other popular brands. When I tried to install the new filter, I found it wouldn't fit my factory air box. The diameter of the Spectre filter is about 1/4 inch too large. Now what? I reinstalled my original filter and checked Amazon. They have a 30 day return policy. I'll try to contact Spectre and see if they have one that is properly sized for my Mustang. I hope they have a filter that fits properly. (I would suspect they do as the Mustang is a popular car for this type of filter.) Lesson learned, just because they said it will fit, doesn't mean it will. I spoke with Spectre, they will replace this filter. I hope the original unit was just cut out a little too large and not the normal.
$5 more then a replacement filter.

K&N went bad, purchased this for work van (runs all day) I like spectre products, have used many different products on different vehicles, never been disappointed.

I have been using the usual brand name thst we all know for many years now and since I found this Spectra brand it's the same quality filter for half the price .. you can't go wrong with these models..

Yes this thing is too thin... would recommend stock filter over anything.

I was hoping to get a little more low speed torque on my 2000 F-150 HD with 5.4 liter V-8--an engine that tends to be gutless at low speeds...
My opinion is subjective since I don't have a dyno to test it, but I can't tell any difference. It is nice that it can just be reused and not thrown away. Will pay for itself in 2 filter changes.
