I've been using Norton utilities for over 10 years and I've never been disappointed.
The fact that defrag'ng an SSD drive is not recommended does reduce the usefulness quite a bit. The remaining tools included in the utilities suite are still very worthy of the purchase. Although many so-called "free" software packages purport to offer the same, or similar, benefits I can attest, from many years experience, that the "free" utility packages simply aren't on the same level with Norton.
I have used this specific version of Norton Utilities with my Windows 10 machines, as well as on client machines using older versions of Windows.

Use to be a big fan of Norton for the Anti-virus software. As a result I purchased Norton Utilities 16 to deal with performance issues I was have with my Windows 8.1 Desktop and Windows 10.0 Laptop. Simply put it is worthless. It goes through all the steps and the performance either does not change or only goes to fair on both. Tried to unsuccessfully find solutions to the problem but their support site was not much help. I have tried numerous times to get it to work and have given up. I don't recommend this product to anyone.

I like Norton and have used their products for 20 years. I needed a program to find and delete duplicate files. This does find duplicates, but has very limited set up options. I used to have a standalone program that had more options that you could set than this Norton product. The reset of the Utilities are fine so far that I have used.

Customers should be very careful with this product. It has some very handy features but they come bundled with some nasty surprises.

I consider myself to be a long-standing highly-experienced computer user. I starting building home-brew computers in the mid 70s. However, I did not anticipate that this version of Norton Utilities would wreak such damage to my computer settings.

Of course, many cookies are intrusive and dangerous and should be deleted. But many cookies are extremely valuable -- on a secure home computer. This version of Norton Utilities deleted every cookie (good, bad, and in between) without ever asking whether I might want to keep any. In addition, it added an extension to my browser that slowed it to a crawl. The resulting page would have no formatting. If I refreshed the page the formatting would appear. Also, my Quicken passwords have suddenly disappeared.

I have taught thousands of university-level computer science students. I am embarrassed at the number of my C students who have graduated and are now producing commercial software. However, this version of Norton would not get a passing grade.

Lots of folks seemed to have issues with this software. From an installment aspect, I installed this software prior to my Norton Security update. Ultimately, on one laptop I removed the old version of utilities first, removed all temporary files, installed the new V16 Utilities, then installed updated 2016 Norton Security. I have two exact same laptops this software was installed on. Initially, the first laptop installed flawlessly by updating the Utilities V16 first, then updating Norton Security...no problems at all. The second laptop I had already updated with Norton Security 2016, then attempted the Utilities V16 install. I kept getting a missing .dll file message on this laptop, and the Utilities would not execute. So, I did the steps described in sentence 3 above, and the second laptop install went perfectly.
