Ran 30 minutes then stopped to let it cool. Ran 30 more minutes

Unit arrived with some damage to the cardboard outer box. While unpacking, no damage was found to the contents inside. I removed the packing braces. Assembling the wheels and handles was straight forward and all parts were included and fit. I added SAE30 oil (I live in Florida) to the crankcase, along with some break-in additive, and gasoline to the tank. Turned on the gas flow valve, set the choke and it started on the second tap of the starter. Turned off the choke after a few seconds and the engine ran smoothly. After much research on the internet, I proceeded with the following break-in method. Ran 30 minutes then stopped to let it cool. Ran 30 more minutes, stopped to let it cool and changed oil (SAE30). Ran for about another hour and again changed oil. This time I used synthetic 10W-30 oil. Ran a little more and everything sounded smooth with a load. I turned the gas flow valve off, let the engine run till it stopped and attached an LP gas tank. Pushed the primer three times and tapped the starter. It started right away but ran really rough for a few seconds (clearing the gasoline more I guess) then settled down to a smooth run. I stopped and ran it a few more times after that and it started and ran smoothly each time, even after switching back to gasoline. I plan to use it to run a deepfreeze, refrigerator, some lights and small appliances when we lose power to our house (we lost it for two days after IRMA). I just bought it and haven't put it to extended use yet but feel quite sure it will do the job when needed. I will add to this report after I have a need to run it in real time.
A good solid purchase.

Product packaging is really a bit too lightweight for adequate protection shipping from China to US. Box was damaged and a frame member on the generator was actually bent. SInce it didn't interfere with function of the generator I didn't contact tech support, although since this appears to be a rather frustrating difficult problem (based on other reviews) I admit that was the main reason I didn't start the process.
Assembly was straightforward and everything worked well, the tools supplied were low quality but quite adequate for their intended purpose. They were very similar to the Japanese motorcycle toolkit tools that have been supplied for decades. The generator started easily on both propane and petrol, ran without any hiccups, and supplied power as per manufacturer's claims. The supplied 12 volt cable is too light weight (looks like about 16 wire gauge and small alligator clips) for charging deep cycle batteries, although adequate for a single small storage battery.
So far I haven't had to run the generator for more than about half an hour just to make sure everything was running properly. I have installed an engine hour meter/tachometer (about $5) and will change the oil again after I run it for another half hour to get rid of any manufacturing debris. I'm planning on using a high quality mineral oil at the oil change, then changing again after about 5 hours to a synthetic oil in case I do need to run the generator under load for an extended period, and also because the synthetic might protect the engine better while stored unused.
I plan on starting the generator (on propane) and running until warmed up (using infrared thermometer) about every 6 weeks. It's currently stored in my garage, petrol drained, with a dust cover. I'm also thinking about a fuel tank sealant to prevent rust inside the tank, and will probably do this next time I seal a motorcycle fuel tank.
Given the low price point this seems to be a very good purchase, especially since I may actually never need to use this generator. But I'm optimistic that, with a little basic care, this generator will be usable for many years to come, if needed. And that's what I bought it for.

This xp4400eh was more than I ever expected. Everything was there, it was very easy to assemble, it started in a couple of spins with the electric start. It ran on propane for about 1/2 hour I tested with electric drill, vaccume cleaner and a set of halogen work lights. I read a lot of reviews and most of the 3 or less star reviews were written in my opinon by mentel deficients. The product was packaged nicely everything was there and in an intituitive place. I did not hsve to search for anything. I am writing this on a phone with a keyboard the size of a silver dollar. My finger tip actually covers five characters. So if thete are too many errors blame the key board... Les

This is my first review and the reason I'm writing it is because the 400+ people that took the time to evaluate this product helped me in my decision. I received the generator and took an hour to assemble the wheels and fill with oil. I did have a hard time locating the ground wire for the battery because they had it tucked away over the generator assembly. I initially hooked a propane bottle to it and used the pull rope, after 3 or 4 pulls it fired right up. I was very concerned about the noise level but after getting it started it's really not that bad. It's not as quiet as a small Honda generator but it's not like a lawnmower either. After letting it run a few minutes I shut it down, filled it with gas and used the electric starter. Everything worked fine.
I am very satisfied with this product, hopefully it will give me years of use.

Nice generator for the cost.

Generator packaging was excellent and clearly marked. I was able to install wheels and handles by myself and remove all the bracing from shipping. Yesterday I connected propane tank and primed pump and to my surprise turned the key and it started, it did stall and I had to prime the pump and it started and ran for a hour before I turned it off so I could check the oil and fittings.
While installing the parts I noticed that some oil drops on the floor, I telephoned the support line to verify that this was oil from factory testing which they verified, also they ask if everything was to my satisfaction.
In reading the reviews I was a little skeptical of the unit, fortunately I am very satisfied with the unit. The package included two wrenchs, all the nuts and bolts, screwdriver and funnel with long hose to add oil which I supplied 20 oz.of 10w30.
I will advise in six months if unit still working correctly.
