What a total piece of garbage. Over the course of 30 years in saltwater and reef I've tried some of the cheaper model Protein Skimmers and this by far is the absolute worst I have ever seen in my life. When it works (rarely) it does semi ok but pretty poorly even then. If you want wet skimmate enjoy it because that's all you're going to be able to do. Fortunately it was a package deal I bought along with the tank and filter so I have next to nothing into it which is what it's worth.
I am by no means an expert as this is an evolving hobby (always will be). But do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to get a good one. ANY small changes to your tank including ambient temperature of the room, lights off or on, feeding, any small dosage of chemicals (and I do mean small!) and you'll spend your next 2-3 hours trying to once again dial the skimmer in to get any kind of output. Luckily for Fluval the lowest rating I can give on here is one star because in all honesty it would be a few more negative numbers than 1.
This was for a 36 gallon bowfront and I'll be spending the money for an Aqua C Remora rather than keep wasting my time on this piece of plastic garbage. In 3 weeks of ownership I have had actually one day out of twenty one where it actually seemed to be doing something and that only lasted for about 6 hrs total.
Especially if you're running a Nano tank (FOWLR or Reef mix) I would stay completely clear of this one. It's a wasted $73.49. And even if it was only $10 it would be entirely too much.
As I said I have tried some of the cheaper ones in the past when I was starting out so I've seen good ones, mediocre ones and some truly bad ones and this by far takes the cake. Even the bad ones performed semi decently some of the time but this one is by far a real piece of junk!

I got this skimmer with my Fluval M60 24 gallon reef tank. I had never used one before and didn't know a whole lot about them. Overall, setup was not easy. They may as well have just not included any instructions at all for all the help they are. I figured it out eventually through online research. It's running okay now, however the results are rather inconsistent. I trimmed the air valve pipe which helped make it a bit quieter, but it still makes an audible humming sound that I'm rather disappointed with. The quality of the skim is pretty good if you get everything in just the right spot which can be hard to determine. Overall... Had it not come with the aquarium, I probably would not have spent the money to buy it seperaty.

Looks cool, takes up alot of ro inside the tank, difficult to tune..

This thing is complete junk I ran this thing for 2 months I know they have to break in and I wanted to give it plenty of time. Problem 1 if your tank has a lip on the top its not going n there. Problem 2 the seams are not tight and it leaks like crazy around the top. Problem 3 micro bubbles galore makes your tank look like crap you can adjust put filter socks on it clean it not clean it doesn't matter. Keep your money and get a better skimmer of buy this one and be like me buy this one find out its a piece of junk and pay double because you have to buy a different one.
