Post-to-post brackets not easy to attach
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 7, 2016
Parts seem to be in good condition with one exception - the brackets to attach the upper post to the lower posts. The bracket design has changed and does not match the instructions. But more importantly, it is very difficult to get the brackets on while keeping the posts aligned. I bent 3/4 of them badly and thought it was a lost cause. I was able to get them together and straight by bracing a tall 2x4 against posts to keep them aligned while VERY carefully hammering them together. I bought 2 and am not looking forward to assembling the second one - what should have been a 5-10 minute job turned into 2 hours of hammering, swearing, pulling, and rehammering. Not what I expected.
Just Fine If You Know What You're Buying

I'm really not sure why this has so many 1-star reviews. I was hesitant to purchase, but it had so many positive reviews I decided to roll the dice.

Here's the thing, know what you're buying. I agree the 3200lb rating it a pipe dream. Maybe if 90% of the weight is one the bottom shelf, but even then it's going to crack the cheap MDF board.

It's a perfectly fine storage shelf for a garage, or other household utility area. They aren't pretty, they aren't fancy. But they hold all the junk your wife isn't willing to get rid of yet.

Assembly is no big deal, if you read the 4 step directions. The couplers were a little tough to get on, but not the nightmare other reviews made it out to be. Maybe bend a little with pliers. Just took a minute of patience and an extra hard bang of the mallet.

Oh yea, you WILL need the rubber mallet.

Seriously, I got exactly what I paid for. I plan on buying another set - because our junk keeps growing!
Wrong couplers
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 18, 2016
I purchased the 60" high shelving unit, and it was a real disappointment since the couplers that came in the unit were incorrect. They didn't match the instruction manual, and they didn't fit onto the beams. As other reviewers have mentioned, the couplers that shipped with the product are built to go on the inside of the beam (while the instructions show couplers that go on the outside), and they were impossible to attach even with my trusty rubber mallet.

I eventually got ahold of Edsal's customer service after calling them all day, and they promised to send out the correct parts (within 10 business days...), citing that "you're not the first person who has run into this problem". In the meantime, I was able to make the shelves work by using a flathead screwdriver to manually bend the couplers a bit so that they weren't such a tight fit.

The shelving unit seems great besides the couplers, which is why I gave it two stars. Unfortunately, they were just a huge headache because of the incorrect parts and the difficulty of reaching customer service. The 72" version seems like it'd be a better choice if you have the space, since it doesn't have any couplers included.
This shelve is everything the seller says and more. Easy to put together, very sturdy, steel frame. I love it & will buy more!!!

WARNING UPDATE: I bought a 2nd shelf because I loved the 1st one so much. The problem is the 2nd shelf came with different couplers that are not usable unless you pry them wider open. We had to clam them into a vice and use a very thick flat head screw driver to make them wide enough to slide onto the posts without causing damage. I did not lower my rating of 5 stars because I still love these shelfs, but they need get rid of the inside couplers and only send the outside couplers. See pictures.
I bought this shelf for my new barn. I have a lot of tools and other stuff. So, I need shelves. Lots of them. I ordered this because it looked like it would be sturdy and easy to put together. And believe me it is both.
No tools were needed. Just start with 2 posts and one bracket, make sure slots are down and the lip is on the inside. Once you get all 4 posts and brackets together add a shelf and work your way up. Half way up slide all 4 couplers together with all 8 posts and then add your final shelves. Very easy, although it does help to have one other person help you get started, but you can do it by yourself. I started this by myself then when my nephew arrived he finished it by his self.
The hard part is trying to get organized now. But, I like this shelf so much I am going to buy more.

PROS:
Very easy to put together. Caution: Use mallet or small hammer it doesn't take much to connect bracket and posts.
No tools needed (funny I bought this for tool storage)
Strong steel frame
Shelves are made of particle board, but are very strong
Extremely sturdy
Looks great
Good price

CONS:
THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT COUPLERS BEING SENT OUT. HOPEFULLY YOU WILL GET THE GOOD OUTSIDE COUPLES. I 2 shelves and received both kinds. I love the outside ones and hate the inside ones which could explain some of the bad reviews.
Definitely not tested - the couplers are impossible

I am not new to assembly...
From WayFair, Ikea to Amazon furniture, I've assembled over 10 furniture in the past month as I recently moved.
For contextual information: I've done woodwork before, as well as crafts including jewelry making, bookbinding, etc. Point being, I am handy and crafty.

This piece of furniture is impossible to assemble.
I bought this thinking the assembly looks pretty straight forward. No. They make it impossible to assemble it properly.

The couplers are way too tight, there is no way that it can be assembled. I tried a rubber mallet, hammer with wood inbetween, hammer with cloth, etc. No matter how hard and precise I hit it, it WILL NOT GO IN.

I had to PRY OPEN each end using a straight screw driver, and that was the only way that I could even get one in. Even if I were to do this to both ends of all 4 couplers and managed to get them in, then I would be concerned about the stability of this piece.

If you were me, thinking that those having trouble assembling this are probably just incapable and that you won't have any issues, think again.
