Daughter is 8 but really tall for her age. Went to a bike shop and they said she needed a 24" bike for her size. She loves this beach bike but it is too big for her to handle right now especially with the wide handlebars. However, their are not many beach bike options for young girls. She will grow into this bike in time and I like that she will learn to use gears. I do wish it had a hand break but that might not be feasible with the fenders. Knocked it down one star because the fenders are not very strong and the front fender on hers is not straight when bolted in.
