This is great for after surgery

This is great for after surgery . You can adjust it on three different sections ,this allows you to contour to your shoulder and if you need to relieve pressure just adjust it .
Excellent for shoulder pain

Bought this for both rotary cuff surgery and then afterwards for a shoulder replacement. It works well to keep the shoulder cold for about 2 hrs. I bought extra ActiveWrap ice packs that fit in the wrap and could swap them up when they got warm.
Steep price, but worth it

This has really helped me deal with my shoulder injury. I wish it came with four inserts, so I could keep two in the freezer and two out (for when I want to heat them). I'll have to buy two more, so I don't have to thaw the ones I keep frozen. But overall a great product. I like that I can get it on myself.
Not a good fit for me because of chest area.

Heat and cold wise it was good. But contour wise for women with chest, it does become an issue. Couldn't get it so that it would fit comfortably. Sorry not for me.
This has been a really big help to me

I'm really happy with the purchase of this ActiveWrap shoulder wrap, I was a little hesitant on spending that much money on something that might not be right for me but it was getting good reviews. I had shoulder surgery a few weeks before my purchase and the ice pack I was given by the surgical staff was poor at best. Luckily a friend had lent me a CryoCuff "“ one of the best inventions ever "“ but now that I was a little more mobile I needed something more portable. This fits the bill perfectly, it is a very good quality, really well made, fits well, and ices exactly where I need it.
Some notes:
~ I'm 5'5" and 125 lbs slim framed "“ I ordered the small/medium size
~ Don't plan on this being your immediate post-surgery ice pack. This is only wearable if you are able to lift you arm slightly (or more) as you have to slip your arm into the hole, so you would not be able to wear it immediately after any surgery to the shoulder area. Additionally it is a little hefty with the ice packs in it and would just be too much weight to get it on immediately after surgery.
~ However, if it is for post-surgery you will not regret buying it for the weeks and months later. There is about five months of physical therapy so this will come in very handy for those days where it's needing some ice to calm things down.
~ It is the same exact price from the ActiveWrap website, no difference in the product and they are really great to work with but I have AmazonPrime and really wanted it in the two day turn-around.
~ I ended up buying the extra ice packs for it directly from ActiveWrap as there was conflicting advice on Amazon, they guided me to the ones that I needed for this wrap. The one that Amazon advised was "frequently purchased with" the ice pack was totally the wrong size for this pack and in the Q&A section someone had mentioned that they were 4x7" which they are not (see my photos for the exact size "“ about 7 x 9.5 x 0.3 - Large size)
~ At first I was thinking I would not buy the extra inserts and just insert one of the many useless ice packs I already own. But these are not your normal stiff as a rock ice packs, they are very pliable and thus conform to the shape of your arm as they should. In my photo I have it laid "“ frozen "“ across a large Nalgene bottle to demonstrate the flexibility.
~ They do re-freeze quickly so if you are just using this at home it is not necessary to buy extra ice packs, I bought them so I could have a set at work and a set at home.
~ The set of ice packs that I bought directly from ActiveWrap, while they are the same as the ones that came with the shoulder pack from Amazon, were actually nicer because they each came in their own nylon sack that has velcro on it and you insert the whole thing into the shoulder pack. Additionally the set came in it's own travel nylon bag too with an area for you to label your name as well. I don't know if only the extras come that way or if they are supposed to come that way with the pack too (mine did not).
~ The shoulder pack has adjustable straps to tighten if you are smaller or want it to be more snug.
~ In my photos you can see that it snugs right up to the base of you neck. The photos also show the slots where you slip the ice packs into are almost an inch short of the edge (the white is just a tissue so you can see where the edges are), my point being that it would ice up to about an inch from the base of your neck and no closer.
~ Because it basically is a snuggy around your arm it does not ice the entire shoulder blade area, but there is just enough overhang to get a bit of the outer area / infraspinatus and in the front a bit of the pec minor, all important to the shoulder.
~ The packs inside go right to the middle (see photo) so it ices the whole top of the shoulder as well the front and back in that area. They also go all the way to the bottom so they get the outer delt as well as the upper bicep area.
~ My arm is about 10 inch circumference and as you can see there was room left for a bigger arm yet I'm not swimming in this either. I also set a large nalgene bottle in it as a frame of reference, you can't see it but there is a still a small amount of room left on the outside of that.
~ The pack itself is a really nice neoprene but the part that holds in the ice packs is a nylon material so you would definitely want a shirt under it because it gets very cold. I'm small, I like two shirts so keep the shirt(s) in mind when ordering if you think you are on the cusp of moving up a size.
~ The nylon that holds the ice packs is actually two layers/two openings thus giving you the option of putting only layer of nylon between the ice and you or two layers (3 if you have the packs that come in the nylon pouch)
~ It comes with instructions and you can use it for heat instead of ice but I have not needed that so have not tried it.
~ Yes, it is truly useable for either shoulder.
~ The shoulder pack also comes in a nylon travel pack so you can conveniently throw it in your bag / backpack, briefcase, etc.
~ We all have a different level of pain but in my opinion this was well worth the purchase and helps me out immensely.
