I'm a welder. Prior to this I used kevlar laces, and they lasted me about 8-12 months usually. That was pretty good for laces. But I got tired of replacing them so I considered other options and decided to try iron laces. That was at least 18 months ago, and these things are ridiculous. They are extremely stiff when you get them, and the color washes out, but frankly I don't care because they have yet to show even a tiny sign of failure. They are a grey-silver color now but other than that they look new. I don't know what they're made of but it seems truly amazing.

If you need laces for dress shoes or boots, and you care about how easy they are to tie at first or what color they end up being, maybe look elsewhere. But I plan to only buy these for work boots, from now on.

I love these laces! I've had a pair on some hiking boots that have over 1000 miles and these laces haven't even frayed. They will definitely discolor fast, but to me that's not a big deal. They have been through super cold weather, warm weather, rain, snow, ice, slush, etc. and are still going very strong. They never let me down! I recommend going one size up from what you think you need. Just bought the 8-9 eyelet laces for a pair of winter boots with 8 eyelets and they fit, but not with enough room to double knot the lace at the end. Otherwise, great laces!

Got my first chance to use these his past weekend for our Pheasant opener. I hunted for 2 days. We hunt hard and the habitat is your typical long Johnson grass, thickets, willows, corn fields, tough weeds, mud and sloughs. By the end of the first day they not only discolored but they stretched close to a foot in total (12"). The color went from a kind of golden brown to an almost silvery white and they softened substantially. Probably a good thing given they start out quite stiff. The photos others have posted are precisely how the color changed on mine. It's not generally a big deal but for hunting you want everything to be earth tones and white is not an acceptable color. I'd been in several sloughs where the water was over 6" deep and I suspect it was the water that caused the changes. They are very tough and that did not change. Would I buy them again? Not for ten bucks.

Not the most comfortable laces, but they will take a beating and keep on coming. I bought a few pairs of these for my trail running shoes, and they are rock solid. I wish they were a little softer, they are a little uncomfortable when you really tighten them down, but they are built to last no question.

wear steel toes and go through shoelaces like crazy! Yeah, me too! Buy these, your lacing days will be over. Well, until you buy a new pair of boots or shoes that is. Worth every dang penny.
