The Washer is fixed!!
Zanzarista✓ Verified Purchase•September 6, 2023
While I'm disappointed that I HAD to buy this part to fix my washer, I'm glad that that the part that arrived, fit well and fixed the problem. This part was ordered for a LG front loading washer, model #WM0642HW because the drum would not rotate. Apparently the splines on the inside of the hub of the rotor wear off, and allow the rotor to slip on the tub shaft causing a growling sound. Removal and replacement of this, was one of the easier jobs I've done. There is a You tube video for this replacement. Search for " Rotor (part #AHL72914402) - LG Washer Repair" even though the part number is different, the process is the same.
I have to admit that the washer has less vibration now on the spin cycles!!
Lesson learned about the shipping information provided by the USPS. The website that the "shipping information" leads you to, isn't always accurate. My experience was that the USPS web site said "part arrived for shipment" at the seller's end, but had not been shipped. Even on the day it arrived at my house, the shipment information on the USPS site, was not up to date and still showed in transit, or words to that affect. To credit the seller, the part arrived quickly and well protected.

One screw...YouTube is life!!!

This should have been pretty easy to install. Just one bolt really however it took me over an hour to get the bolt back in after putting the new rotor on. The main reason was the middle (where you put the screw into) kept moving back in. It needed to be pushed out to engage the screw however every time I put the rotor back on the inside would cave in. Took a ton of manipulation however I finally was able to get it done. But seriously this fix is pretty basic, sans this issue. My washing machine works fantastic now!!! Yay me!
Quality Part, So Easy to Replace

My LG washer model WM0642HW/01 had been making some odd noises for some time. Eventually the tub quit spinning altogether. I could hear some sound from the motor as though it was trying to spin the tub, but it was not moving. I watched a youtube video where this guy had the same problem, and it was very funny because this guy was verbally reproducing the exact sound my washing machine was making. When I watched the video, I knew instantly this was my problem, since my machine was making the same sound. The problem is caused by the plastic teeth on the rotor being stripped out. So when the motor turns, there are no teeth on the rotor for it to grab. Eventually when it gets bad enough, your washer will quit spinning altogether.
This new rotor has metal teeth that shouldn't strip out like the old one did. The part was very well packaged.
The repair is really simple, quick and easy. There are some good videos on youtube that show how to do the repair. Search for "lg rotor replacement". You remove a few screws from the back panel of your washer and the back panel will come off. Then there is only one bolt which holds the rotor onto the washer. When I took mine apart, the single bolt holding the rotor on was really loose.
Before you bolt on the new rotor, be sure and apply some medium strength thread locking compound to the bolt. This will help prevent the bolt from coming lose over time. There are a number of different brands of thread locking compound, below are links to a couple on Amazon:

Has your machine started to growl during the wash cycle? This is probably the part you need.

Our 7 year old LG front loader was making a low growl during the wash cycle, but the drum was still spinning, for close to a week before the growl turned into a howl and the drum refused to turn. Referencing a youtube tutorial, we replaced this piece with some ease - but from one intrepid DIYer to another, please REMEMBER TO UNPLUG YOUR MACHINE before beginning the repair. While the repair was quick, we accidentally left our washer plugged in until the old part was removed, and when the new part was in, the machine would not power on. No amount of troubleshooting could get it to come on. We ended up having to replace the Noise Filter AND the Power Control Board (we tried it with each separately, it only worked when both had been replaced.) Now, things are going great, and in a family of 8 with 1-3 loads running a day, that is a meaningful thing.
Easy install, saved hundreds
it is awsome✓ Verified Purchase•June 26, 2023
My elderly father in law just moved closer to us so we could help him out. Hooked up the washer in his new place. Started a load and left. When i had come back the load was not done and the washer was making this horrible ratchet type sound. Tub would barely turn. I am not mechanicaly inept, but i thought i might as well open it up and see if i could at least get an idea what was going on. Opened the back and saw that the motor was turning. Decided i would unplug it and look further into it. Took off the large bolt and could easily see the teeth on this part was stripped. Luckly i was able to find the part here. I played around with different buying options as i wanted to get it as fast as possible. I was willing to pay extra for overnight or 2 day shipping. Amazon was out of stock so i ordered it from HomeAppliancePart. They only offered 1 shipping option. I figured it was better than waiting for a backorder. Shipping was super fast. I ordered it on a holiday weekend and it was on my doorstep tuesday by 10am with standard shipping. Install was easy. New part looks like the teeth are medel, not plastic like the orginal. Fixed the washer and saved my father in law hundreds. Too bad there was no way to just order the inner piece. Kind of a waste to replace the whole thing. After reading the reviews, im glad i didn't try going the 10 year warranty and repair man route. I cant believe Lg would make this part in plastic and not fix it as apart of a warranty. I had a lg oven range die on me in less than a year and getting warranty service is horrible. I dont plan on purchasing any more lg appliances.
